About The Role
Are you passionate about community empowerment and sustainable development? NPL is seeking a Superintendent, Community Investment to support the execution and management of community investment initiatives at Porgera. This is a key tactical role that will focus on delivering impactful community development programs aligned with NPL's sustainability goals and strategic objectives.
As the Superintendent, Community Investment, you will play an essential role in implementing programs that improve the standard of living for local communities, with a focus on driving economic growth, education, healthcare, and environmental sustainability. You will also be instrumental in developing and executing the Forward Works Program (5-year Community Investment Plan), ensuring that community development initiatives are sustainable and contribute to long-term benefits.You will work closely with local stakeholders, government agencies, and community leaders to ensure that initiatives are executed effectively and generate lasting value for the community.
In this role, you will;
Develop Forward Works Program (5-year Community Investment Plan): Lead the development of the Forward Works Program (5-year plan) for community investment, ensuring alignment with NPL’s long-term sustainability and business objectives. This plan will focus on areas such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, local business development, and environmental sustainability. Regularly review and update the program to adapt to emerging community needs and company goals.
- Support Community Development Committees (CDCs): Assist in the establishment and management of CDCs, ensuring that they are composed of diverse stakeholders, including community leaders, women, youth, and Indigenous representatives. Foster inclusive decision-making and collaboration among community members. Execute Annual Community Investment Plans: Contribute to the execution of the Community Investment Plan, focusing on tangible benefits such as improved access to education, healthcare, water, and food security, alongside local economic development.
- Enhance Local Economic Development: Support local workforce development by ensuring that community investment programs create sustainable economic opportunities, promote local business growth, and contribute to job creation.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain effective relationships with local Indigenous leaders, government agencies, NGOs, and other key stakeholders. Ensure open communication, transparency, and mutual respect in all interactions.
- Program Implementation & Impact: Oversee the delivery of key community programs in areas such as education, food security, water, healthcare, and economic development. Ensure that these programs meet local needs, are aligned with SDGs, and deliver long-term community benefits.
- Performance Monitoring & Reporting: Assist in tracking the performance of community investment programs, monitor progress toward objectives, and report on the outcomes to ensure accountability and effectiveness.
- Support Strategic Partnerships: Identify opportunities for strategic partnerships that enhance the impact and scale of community programs. Foster collaboration with local and regional stakeholders to maximize program benefits.
About You
To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Community Development, Economics, or a related field.
- Experience: At least 7 years of experience in community investment, business development, or a related field, with experience in managing and executing community development programs.
- Program Management: Proven ability to execute community programs, ensure alignment with strategic goals, and achieve measurable results. Experience in developing long-term community investment plans (such as a 5-year plan) is highly valued.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Strong skills in building and maintaining relationships with local communities, government, and NGOs.
- Sustainability Focus: Understanding of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and experience in implementing community investment programs that promote sustainable development.
- Local Knowledge: Familiarity with the local cultural context and community needs, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Mobilization Requirement
This is a PNG National Staff position, a site based role on a Fly in Fly out arrangement with rotation of 21 days on and 14 days off. Must successfully pass a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol screening. (This will be arranged only for successful candidates who progress after the interview stage) and have an up-to-date Police Clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months).
