Your Next Challenge
Reporting to the Exploration Manager, Nunavut, you will lead the exploration activities on the Hope Bay Project. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of the exploration programs, ensuring the discovery and development of new mineral resources.
Team And Performance Management
- Direct workflow and plan for workforce needs, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment in-line with Agnico Eagle’s culture.
- Set goals, provide feedback, and offer structured training to foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Supervise and support the Exploration Advisor, Exploration General Supervisor, Logistics Coordinators, and Exploration Coordinators in long-term, mid-term, and day-to-day planning.
- Assess, organize, and approve required departmental training.
- Keep the department at the forefront of new technologies, following best practices in the exploration industry.
Safety And Compliance Leadership
- Be a courageous safety leader, leading by example and fostering a proactive safety and sustainability culture based on Agnico Eagle’s values on health, safety, environment, and community relations.
- Respect and promote Agnico Eagle’s standards and governmental policies and regulations.
Manage all exploration activities on the Hope Bay project.
- Ensure proper reporting of exploration activities (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly).
- Contribute to corporate reports, new releases, and presentations, ensuring timely completion of government-mandated reporting.
- Foster positive relationships with external parties to enhance collaboration and partnership.
- Oversee contract compliance, develop monitoring and reporting systems, and guide the team in handling challenging contractual issues.
- Plan, communicate, and coordinate surface and underground exploration strategies in line with corporate objectives.
- Collaborate with groups involved in projects to meet corporate objectives, such as CSD, Studies, Environment, Community Relations, Procurement, Engineering, and Permitting.
Budget Management
- Plan, propose, recommend, and follow up on budgets (yearly and long-term) for near-mine and regional exploration.
- Develop short, medium, and long-term exploration programs for the budget and provide feedback to management.
- Respect authorized budgets by reporting and analyzing exploration-related costs.
- Approve expenses and contracts according to company policies.
What You Need To Succeed
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or relevant Geoscience;
- Minimum of 15 years in mineral exploration, including budget control, drilling programs, fieldwork, contractor management, geophysics, structural geology, geochemistry, and project management;
- At least 10 years of direct team supervision;
- Experience in an arctic climate, and multicultural environment is an asset;
- Must meet all qualifications to act as a Qualified Person as defined by the NI-43-101 standard;
- Strong leadership and supervisory capabilities with the ability to efficiently manage and inspire a team in a remote exploration environment;
- Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications, especially Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; Leapfrog and ArcGIS;
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills;
- Good organizational and problem-solving abilities;
- Strong commitment to Health and Safety;
- Effective communication skills in English (both oral and written).
Your Work Schedule
- Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from Edmonton, Alberta, or Yellowknife, NWT.
- Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides transportation to and from Hope Bay Project and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
