Your Next Challenge
Reporting to the Energy & Infrastructure Superintendent, you will be part of the Energy & Infrastructure Department and will collaborate closely with your team members and other departments of the mine. You will be responsible for the execution of all electrical activities on site from instrumentation, power distribution and underground construction to engineering. You will work with a team of approximately 50 employees and 10 direct reports. You will have as your principal mandate to build an efficient and sustainable departmental structure that will emphasize health & safety and maintenance best practices, risk and priority management, reliability, quality, and team development. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and the environment.
- Ensure that the policies and procedures are in accordance with the Nunavut Mine Act and that they are applied;
- Ensure the application and the evolution of the Agnico Eagle supervision formula;
- Optimize coordination of the daily activities’ execution;
- Participate in the coordination of and follow up on the weekly activity planning and of the weekly schedule;
- Evaluate work orders with the team to prioritize work and ensure alignment with the business plan;
- Identify optimization opportunities and participate in continuous improvement initiatives;
- Participate in the continued development of the strategic plan and ensure alignment of the plan with the team;
- Support supervisors in identifying and resolving efficiency issues, roadblocks and bottlenecks;
- Ensure team alignment based on priorities, criticality and targets;
- Ensure that equipment availability meets or exceeds production requirements;
- Develop the team through coaching and training;
- Support the supervisors in the identification of targets and budget needs;
- Support the engineering team in defining the long-term plan and future technology implementation;
- Support the deployment of automation initiatives.
What You Need To Succeed
- Diploma in an electrical field (engineering, technology, red seal, etc.);
- 10+ years of experience in an electrical field in a leadership role;
- Strong underground mining experience;
- Automation knowledge is an asset;
- Solid understanding of maintenance processes, construction standards, preventative maintenance & reliability;
- Solid leadership and coaching abilities, and client and results orientation;
- Critical thinking, continuous improvement and problem-solving skills;
- Demonstrated organizational skills and autonomy;
- Ability to work under pressure;
- Experience working in a multicultural environment;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team;
- Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint;
- Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written). Selected candidates must attain a passing mark on the SPEEXX English language assessment.
Your Work Schedule
- Schedule: 7 days of work, followed by 7 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from all communities in the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d’Or, Quebec.
