About The Role
New Porgera Limited is seeking a dedicated and experienced
Grievance Specialist to join our team. In this pivotal role, reporting to the Grievance Superintendent of Community & Social Responsibility, you will take charge of managing databases and spearheading the initial investigation and resolution of community issues related to our mining operations in Porgera. In this role, you will
Key Responsibilities
- Management of the database of community issues held by Community & Social Responsibility Department
- Undertake the collation of information on community issues raised with NPL and consult with relevant knowledgeable NPL officers on these issues in a timely manner so resolution can be made
- Investigate and compile information and material on internal NPL systems, process, policy and procedure necessary to allow drafting of a letter response to grieving parties;
- Capacity to draft letters in a form suitable for settlement by more senior officers
- Provide reports of community issues raised monthly, quarterly and annually as required by NPL Management and Barrick Corporate
- Any other matters requested by NPL Management relating to the management of community issues
- Monitor the discipline systems and business processes, identify and prioritise improvement opportunities and formulate alternatives and improvements to systems and methods
- Assist the function Manager / Superintendent with implementation of change management initiatives and other business improvement projects
- Develop, implement and maintain safe work procedures and promote high safety and health awareness. Promote and comply with the NPL Occupational Health & Safety Policy
- Ensure appropriate facilities, procedures and workforce competence to achieve legal compliance, incident prevention and the achievement of tasks in an environmentally sustainable manner
- Ensure effective communication with delegate prior to departure from site.
- Class 3/6 License is required but not mandatory
The Ideal Candidate Must Have
- University qualification in relevant discipline with some experience or training in conflict management, considered desirable
- 5-7 Years of work experience in issues resolution with proven problem analysing and solving skills within resources industry
- Able to diagnose problems and potential problems and think outside the square and rationale to come up with alternatives and build trust
- High capacity database and computing skills with specific experience working with Borealis Stakeholder Engagement or Land related software, considered desirable;
- High capacity letter writing skills, word processing, presentation, spreadsheet and database applications
- Extensive experience interacting within a culturally diverse workforce and the communities
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated application of continuous improvement ideas
Mobilization Requirement
- This position is open to PNG Citizens Only
- A Fly-In Fly-Out arrangement with a rotation of 21 days on and 14 days off
- Must successfully pass a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol screening. (This will be arranged only for successful candidates who progress after the interview stage).
- Must have an up-to-date Police Clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months).
