Job Description
Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Oversee consistent application of Safety & Health principles in all discipline interactions and take personal responsibility for safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities.
- Value stream mapping of processes.
- Value chain analysis within Mining / Processing to identify the dominant constraint & improvement opportunities.
- Define KPIs (Purpose & theory) and implement a measurement system to measure the Stability & Capability of the defined KPI’s and process performance.
- Review process performance on a regular basis and drive a culture of impactful A&I sessions.
- Collaborate with senior and junior leadership on site to identify business improvement opportunities.
- Drive and implement business improvement projects from beginning to end and verify the claimed value add, forming the foundations of structured BI programs for site.
- Identify workflow and business process requirements and related solutions over a complete business process, including obtaining approvals, documentation, testing and training.
- Track & monitor implementation and effectiveness of control actions.
- Facilitate required management routines to drive control action accountability within line management.
- Conduct analysis required to support the managers to make critical decisions about potential business benefits and trade-off for a range of initiatives supported by Operating Model.
- Facilitate and drive the adoption of Six Sigma and Lean principles on site.
- Consults with site management on a regular basis to ensure that systems, data and reporting needs are addressed and effective.
- Implement a purpose-driven, high-performing culture that is aligned with the company values, is inclusive and promotes diversity, supports engagement and fosters continuous improvement to work processes.
- Ensure compliance to Anglo American internal and external compliance (legislative, regulatory, permitting).
This role is at band 6/11 level and reporting to the Section Manager Integrated Planning & OM.
Qualifications
- Diploma / Degree in Engineering, Mining, Processing or a related field
- Six-Sigma and Lean qualification will be advantageous.
- Post graduate qualification will be advantageous
- Valid EB/Code 08 driver’s license
Experience And Technical Skills
- Minimum of 4 years relevant experience which includes 2 Years of business improvement experience.
- Relevant Business Improvement specific training & exposure will be advantageous
- Experience in the use of tools e.g. lean manufacturing and constraints analysis will be advantageous
- Key value drivers within discipline's value chain and interdependence of key levers
- Principles of how operational processes are classified according to the Operational Planning.
- Advanced knowledge of business improvement/optimisation and best practice benchmarking
- Advanced in analyzing & Improving / Six-Sigma / Business improvement tools and techniques
- Advanced skill in control charts & Capability Histogram software
- Proficient skill in Facilitation & working with multi-cultural teams
- Proficient experience of working with culturally diverse teams
- Expert skill in MS Office suite
- Proficient in Lean
- Business acumen and commercial drivers of site performance
- Basic financial metrics & budgeting tools
