Rainy River Mine
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit and underground, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.
The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. About The Role
Position: Underground Maintenance Supervisor

Position Reports To: Underground Maintenance Superintendent
Role Summary
The role of Underground Maintenance Supervisor is to support the underground maintenance team at New Gold’s Rainy River mine, ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of reliability-centered maintenance for underground equipment. This role includes supervising a maintenance crew, implementing preventive maintenance programs, and collaborating with various departments to meet operational goals while upholding New Gold’s cultural, safety, and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Underground Maintenance Operations: Oversee maintenance activities for the underground mobile fleet, ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and in an environmentally responsible manner.
- Safety & Compliance: Comply with and promote all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures. Conduct routine inspections, promote New Gold values, and maintain clean, safe work environments.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and develop members within the team, fostering a culture of safety, productivity, and teamwork. Support their professional development through coaching, mentoring, and in tandem with the training department.
- Fleet & Maintenance Planning: Oversee the development and execution of maintenance plans for underground equipment, ensuring accurate and efficient scheduling and prioritization of tasks to optimize fleet performance.
- Collaboration: Communicate with operations to coordinate schedule compliance and ensure maintenance activities support overall production goals. Attend daily line-up meetings with the crew and morning meetings with supervisors to align on priorities and address any immediate maintenance needs.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience in a supervisory role, leading teams in a mining or heavy equipment setting.
- Experience with underground mining equipment and operations is an asset.
- Dedicated to promoting safety in the workplace as a top priority.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt, multi-task and prioritize.
- Outstanding communication skills.
- Ability to identify, analyze, and solve complex problems.
