Rainy River Mine
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.
The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. About The Role
Position: Logistics, Travel, Accommodation, and Transportation Coordinator
Shift: 5/2/4/3 - 9 hour days (with relocation) or 14/14 - 12 hour days fifo
Reports to: Logistics and Asset Protection Manager
Job Summary
The Logistics, Travel, Accommodation, and Transportation Coordinator is responsible for managing the logistics, travel arrangements, accommodations, and transportation for all mine site employees and contractors. This role ensures smooth and efficient operations of site-related logistics, including the coordination of daily bus transportation, accommodations, and camp security. The role also involves working closely with our Camp Management contractor and supporting mine site security in collaboration with the Security Services provider.
- Relocation to the area is preferred, 14/14 schedule is available if required.
Key Responsibilities - Employee Transportation Coordination:
- Oversee the scheduling and dispatching of transportation services, including buses and shuttles for employees between designated points and the mine site.
- Ensure that all transportation is compliant with safety standards and local regulations.
- Coordinate with bus drivers to ensure timely and efficient transportation services.
- Monitor bus maintenance and repairs by collaborating with local contractors and in-house teams.
- Handle incident reporting and provide necessary support to bus drivers regarding route planning and road safety.
- Travel Arrangements:
- Organize travel bookings for fly-in and fly-out (FIFO) employees, including flights, transportation to and from the airport, and accommodation needs.
- Ensure timely bookings and changes to travel itineraries, providing clear communication to all employees affected by travel changes.
- Assist in managing travel costs, keeping track of transportation and accommodation expenses, and optimizing travel efficiency.
- Accommodations and Camp Coordination:
- Manage camp accommodations for employees and contractors, ensuring availability and cleanliness of rooms.
- Coordinate check-ins and check-outs, room assignments, and occupancy tracking.
- Work closely with the Camp Management contractor to ensure high standards for living conditions, including maintenance of rooms, dining facilities, and common areas.
- Monitor the quality of services provided by the Camp Management contractor and ensure compliance with company policies and standards.
- Ensure camp security by working closely with security teams, monitoring access control, and ensuring a safe environment within the camp.
- Support for Mine Site Security:
- Collaborate with the Security Services provider to ensure the safety and security of employees, contractors, and assets at the mine site and camp.
- Monitor site security measures, including access control and surveillance systems, to maintain a safe working environment.
- Assist with security incident reporting and coordination with external security personnel.
- Ensure that transportation and camp-related activities comply with security protocols.
- Logistics Planning and Support:
- Support the Logistics and Asset Protection Manager in daily logistical operations and provide backup when needed.
- Track and report on logistical metrics to optimize operational efficiency and reduce costs.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Maintain compliance with all relevant regulations and standards in transportation, accommodations, and security.
- Ensure that safety and security procedures are followed during all transportation and accommodation activities.
- Conduct safety and security briefings for employees regarding transportation, camp procedures, and mine site security.
Qualifications And Skills
- Previous experience in logistics, transportation, or camp coordination, ideally within the mining or industrial sector.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Proficient in travel and accommodation management systems.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Valid driver's license and familiarity with transportation regulations.
- Knowledge of safety and security protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Experience managing relationships with external vendors and contractors.
Preferred
- Relocation: Candidates who are willing to relocate to the region are preferred.
- Experience working in remote locations or camp environments.
- Knowledge of SAP for logistics and supply chain management is an asset.
- Experience working with external Camp Management and Security Services providers.
- Knowledge of the Rainy River region and local transportation networks.
