The Role
The successful person will become a member of a hardworking and committed team who will be supporting the Engineering department to develop practical solutions to various plant improvements and specialised structural repairs that aid the safe production of nickel and cobalt.
You will be responsible for:
- Work collaboratively and effectively with asset owners in the identification, prevention and troubleshooting of plant and process problems to ensure maximum availability;
- Prioritise day to day work and shutdown activities.
- Utilise industry accepted engineering software in combination (with hand calculations as required) to efficiently develop solutions to all assigned tasks, projects and investigations associated to the structural engineering field;
- Utilise knowledge of structural frame analysis, finite element analysis (FEA) methods and foundation design to develop structural calculation documentation to support decisions and solutions to tasks at hand;
- Carry-out site inspections and liaise with asset owners and construction crew to develop practical solutions for field-based plant and process improvements and repairs.
- Carry out calculations and structural analysis in accordance with guidelines, Australian Standards, health and safety regulations, and local authorities regulations;
- Utilise understanding for structural detailing and drawing requirements to liaise with drafts-people to develop drawings for various repairs and improvements throughout the plant;
- Ensure work output complies with engineering standards and regulatory requirements;
- Scoping repair tasks for structural remediation.
About You
This role would suit a structural engineer with exposure to leadership roles that is familiar with Australian Standards and design of structures supporting various a wide range of process equipment, piping systems and tanks. You will also need to have:
A Civil / Structural Degree recognised by Engineers Australia;
An Australian Manual Drivers Licence;
Appreciation of the Business context for engineering and maintenance decisions;
An ability to communicate effectively across all levels with Senior Management, Legal Entities and external stakeholders;
Demonstrated understanding of structural elements, design and structural details;
Ability to persuade and influence through data rational critical thinking
A proven track record of accomplishments as a structural engineer on industrial facilities in the mining sector.
Previous structural remediation experience in a process plant.
