We are looking for a Development Technician join our Operational Planning Team at Brockman 4. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who can demonstrate proven capability across mine planning, geotechnical knowledge and experience in large-scale open pit surface mining operations. Whether you’re new to your profession or experienced in your field and whatever industry you have exposure to, we have opportunities that will provide interesting work and growth opportunities for everyone.
You’ll be part of a high performing team, supported by your leader to grow and achieve your own personal goals as well as the goals of the team. You’ll work on an 8/6 Roster, with flexible working arrangements available, which will give you more time to spend on the things that are important to you and the people in your life.
Reporting to the Superintendent Operational Planning, you will
- Ensure all Rio Tinto Health and Safety standards, policies and procedures are adhered to
- Undertake blast vibration installation, monitoring and data capture and drill and blast data entry
- Assist with blast filming and prism placement
- Support radar deployment, troubleshooting, maintenance, site liaison and logistics
- Monitor crack meter, subsurface, and other monitoring installation, operation, and maintenance
- Undertake pit hazard inspections, geotechnical data collection and processing
- Inspect drone flights and panoramas (weekly)
- Act as UAV operator and survey assistant
What You’ll Bring

- Minimum 2 years site-based experience within a large-scale open pit surface mining environment
- An interest in career development within Mine Planning
- Knowledge of mining and business software such as MS Office
- A current and valid manual C Class Driver’s Licence
- Full unrestricted eligibility for employment in Australia is essential
Desirable (but not mandatory)
- Completion of UAV (drone) lessons or has
- An interest in pursuing future studies in Mining Engineering or Surveying

Where you’ll be working
Located 60km north-west of Tom Price, Brockman is wholly owned and operated by Rio Tinto. Opened in 2010, this open pit operation offers a family friendly fly in fly out roster with state-of-the-art camp facilities.
The Greater Brockman Operations consist of Brockman 2, Brockman 4, Nammuldi and Silvergrass. Driving the latest technological advancements, the open-pit mines offer an avenue for opportunity and career progression.
