Your Next Challenge
Reporting to the Strategic Planning Superintendent, you will be part of the Engineering Department. You will work as the subject matter expert in mine engineering, planning and design and as part of the technical team, responsible for the Life of Mine (LOM) plan for the Macassa Mine and scenario evaluation to improve the plan including but not limited to optimization of: costs, productivities, development, ventilation, geotechnical design parameters, scheduling, mine design and capital expenditures. You will also ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
- Work with Long-Term team on strategic mine planning, mine budgeting and reporting;
- LOM Scenario Evaluation;
- Gap analysis between current mine planning practices and industry best practices;
- Mineral reserve estimation, economic analysis and investment decision making process;
- Ongoing alignment and standardization of process with other AEM sites (Activity Based Budgeting initiative);
- Elaboration of LOMP, 5-year plans and budget planning;
- Completing Cut-Off Grade calculations and preparing required reports;
- Creating stope shapes that best suit the operational requirements of the mine site;
- Tabulating all stope metrics accurately for the Reserve & Resource process and prepare schedule to determine economic viability;
- Assist Geology in finalizing the mid-year and year-end Reserve statement;
- Prepare Life of Mine plans in accordance with Corporate and internal project deadlines and objectives, ensuring the following:
- Resource leveling of all major mining equipment and infrastructure, providing guidance on future equipment and infrastructure needs;
- Inclusion of major maintenance events, significant rehab or construction jobs;
- Meeting annual targets as set in Budget/LOM and making necessary modifications to schedule to reach goals;
- Communicating material changes with all department heads and involved Planners;
- Complete trade-off and cost analysis studies for varying mining methods, infrastructure options, mining sequences, capital spend timing, etc.;
- Work with geology department to develop diamond drill target guidance based on geological confidence of material within the LOM plan;
- Ensure adequate mineral inventory exists throughout all phases of mine life;
- Assist Short Term Planning and Projects group as required.
What You Need To Succeed
- Degree in Mining Engineering;
- 5 years of mining experience in underground mining within engineering roles;
- Experience in underhand cut-fill, long-hole, and mechanized cut-and-fill;
- Experience with Deswik planning software;
- Experience with mine studies, feasibility studies, and trade-offs;
- Experience in gold or other high unit value metals;
- Good understanding of regulatory standards related to mining in Ontario;
- Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
Your Work Schedule
- Schedule: 4/3 (Monday to Thursday) or 5/2 (Monday to Friday) schedule at our Macassa Mine in Kirkland Lake, ON.
