Your Next Challenge
Reporting to the Capital Projects Manager Construction Detour Lake Mine, you will be responsible to oversee and direct Engineering construction project Department from conception to completion for all infrastructure drawings. You will be accountable for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of engineering tasks related to the project ensuring consistency with construction department strategy, commitments and goals. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
- Review and manage the project team in all aspects of Engineering, Procurement and Construction, providing oversight to Discipline Leads;
- Understand, participate in, and direct the engineering and construction processes in order to support the requirements of the project contract and coordinates a team effort;
- Communicate effectively to direct reports the permitting requirements and issues to be resolved;
- Review the project plans and specifications and comment on the building design, scheduling, possible cost savings measures and potential construction problems;
- Prepare and issue the project tender packages, including scopes of work customized for the specific project. Ensure IBA requirements are met;
- Participate in pre-bid, pre-construction and contractor negotiations, and is the customer interface on any construction-related meetings or items;
- Review quotations and provide bid analysis and recommendations for approval;
- Oversee the schedule development for project completion that effectively allocates the resources to the activities and provide updates to all stakeholders;
- Liaise with Construction Superintendents to validate and discuss constructability of designs;
- Work closely with project controls department to provide visibility, control costs, forecasts, ensure schedule and budget compliance and issue reports;
- Provide guidance and proper instructions to project personnel for planning, scheduling, and close out of projects. Ensure according documentation is properly prepared;
- Overview, monitor and control the budget of each area under your supervision;
- Promote safe operation practices through personal example, implementation of safety programs, ensuring proper working conditions, and development of effective plans and procedures.
What You Need To Succeed
- University degree in civil engineering or a related field;
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in project leadership roles, preferably in a mining environment;
- Proven management and leadership skills; ability to build consensus, rally support around common goals and to motivate groups and individuals;
- Strategic thinking and understanding of critical issues related to project management aspects;
- Ability to work effectively in multicultural environments.
- Professional designation (P.Eng.);
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, AutoCAD, Navisworks(Deswik an asset);
- Excellent interpersonal skills, strong work ethic and a positive attitude;
- Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written);
- Work well in fast-paced environment;
- Ability to effectively prioritize job duties.
Your Work Schedule
- Schedule: 4 days of work at our Detour Lake mine site, followed by 3 days off;
- Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides transportation to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
