Your Next Challenge
Reporting to the Metallurgical Superintendent, you will be part of the Metallurgy Department. You will be responsible for managing specific projects and day-to-day operations in absence of the Metallurgical Supervisor. You will conduct analyses and be involved in the development or integration of new processes, and will provide technical guidance to the team. You will also ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
Process Leadership And Optimization
- Lead the development and implementation of metallurgical processes to optimize gold recovery and production efficiency;
- Oversee the design and execution of metallurgical test programs, including pilot plant trials and full-scale plant tests;
- Analyze process data and performance metrics to identify opportunities for improvement and implement process enhancements;
- To perform any other task within abilities as instructed by Metallurgical Superintendent or Metallurgical Supervisor.
Technical Expertise And Innovation
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on metallurgical processes, including crushing, grinding, leaching, and gold recovery;
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in metallurgical technology and best practices, and implement innovative solutions to improve plant performance;
- Develop and maintain metallurgical models and simulations to predict process behavior and outcomes.
Project Management
- Manage metallurgical projects from conception through to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards;
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including consultants and contractors, to ensure successful project execution;
- Prepare project proposals, budgets, and schedules, and monitor project progress against these plans.
Data Analysis And Reporting
- Prepare weekly / monthly summary reports on process performance, or as directed by Metallurgical Supervisor;
- Conduct detailed analysis of metallurgical data to identify trends, troubleshoot issues, and make data-driven decisions;
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports and presentations on metallurgical performance, test results, and improvement initiatives;
- Communicate findings and recommendations to senior management and other stakeholders.
Team Leadership And Development
- Lead and manage a team of metallurgical technicians, metallurgists and refiners in absence of the Metallurgical Supervisor;
- Provide training and support to plant operators, metallurgists and junior metallurgists on metallurgical processes and procedures;
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance metallurgical knowledge and skills;
- Mentor and develop junior staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance team culture, encouraging continuous learning and improvement.
Safety And Environmental Compliance
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment;
- Ensure all metallurgical processes comply with safety and environmental regulations and company policies;
- Promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship within the metallurgical team.
Continuous Improvement
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing metallurgical processes and plant performance;
- Implement best practices and innovative solutions to improve gold recovery and reduce operational costs;
- Participate in industry conferences and workshops to stay updated on the latest trends and developments in metallurgy.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with team members in the department in the troubleshooting and optimization of process plant operations;
- Collaborate with other departments, including geology, mining, and environmental teams, to ensure integrated and efficient operations;
- Participate in cross-functional team meetings and contribute to strategic planning and decision-making;
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
What You Need To Succeed
- Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field;
- 3-5 years of experience in metallurgical or mineral processing roles, with a focus on gold mining;
- Proven track record of leading and optimizing metallurgical processes;
- Proficiency in data/production analysis tools;
- Commitment to safety and environmental stewardship;
- Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
Your Work Schedule
- Schedule: 14 days of work at our Detour Lake mine site, followed by 14 days off;
- Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides transportation to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada
