About The Role
Rio Tinto is looking for an Engineering Manager to join the RT Projects APAC delivery team with responsibility to provide guidance and support to a range of capital development projects and studies in the APAC Region.
The role will enhance project engineering delivery during all phases of a project life cycle by monitoring and managing engineering delivery by Engineering Service Providers (ESPs) and facilitating interaction between owner’s groups, the ESP and other key stakeholders. The role will manage and report on the consistent application of engineering processes, standards, management and reporting across projects to deliver engineering within the constraints of budget and schedule and yield safe, functional and high-quality outcomes.
Responsibilities will include participation in implementation planning, set-up, services delivery and support to ensure all digital project delivery requirements are met for the Projects. This responsibility extends to coordination of project delivery systems across all functions and disciplines, such as engineering /design authoring systems, project document and data management systems, specifications management, third party hosted systems, IT systems and other systems including IT infrastructure associated with the ESDM environment.
The role reports directly to the Senior Engineering Manager - APAC projects.
Key Accountabilities
- Provide projects/studies with engineering leadership and expertise across disciplines and act as a reference point for technical decisions.
- Contribute to the development of and ensure that engineering set-up, execution and reporting meets RT requirements and compliance with engineering management plans for projects to ensure a high-quality output.
- Monitor, report on and advise actions to correct where necessary engineering productivity and schedule
- Be familiar with trends in engineering technology, systems, and processes to maintain a consistent ‘fit for purpose’ approach across the engineering of all Iron Ore projects.
- Ensure HSECiD and hazard management are adequately considered to meet RT requirements.
- Ensure Lean in Construction practices have been developed and applied.
- Provide technical input into engineering reviews
- Support effective commissioning planning by the provision of key engineering guidance.
- Develop and maintain open and proactive relationships with key stakeholders.
What You’ll Bring
- Degree in engineering together with enriched experience within a major capital project and/or construction environment
- Previous experience leading engineering teams with successful delivery of projects and/or studies
- Experience managing engineering projects/studies where digital technologies have been adopted.
- Excellent communication skills and influencing skills both written and verbal along with sound judgment, decision-making and problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with other team members, peers and associates.
- Ability to interpret technical information, and provide advice to teams of prominent industry professionals
- Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process improvements together with Contract, Contractor Management and Change Management success
