Rainy River Mine
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.
The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. About The Role
Position: Millwright Apprentice
Schedule: 7/7 – 12 hour days and nights
Position Reports To: Mill Maintenance Supervisor
Position Overview
Reporting to the Mill Maintenance Supervisor, the role of the Millwright Apprentice, under the direction of a Millwright is to provide quality troubleshooting, maintenance, overhaul & repairs, installation and modifications for the stationary machinery and mechanical equipment.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Read blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures
- Install, align, dismantle and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment, such as pumps, fans, tanks, conveyors, furnaces and generators according to layout plans using hand and power tools
- Operate hoisting and lifting devices such as cranes, jacks and tractors to position machinery and parts during the installation, set-up and repair of machinery
- Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions
- Install, troubleshoot and maintain power transmission, vacuum, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and programmable logic controls
- Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts
- Operate machine tools such as lathes and grinders to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance or set-up of machinery
- Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery
- Construct foundations for machinery or direct other workers to construct foundations
- Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools and welding equipment.
Qualification
- Grade 12 diploma/GED Valid Drivers’ License
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in an industrial environment preferred.
- Mining experience, especially open pit preferred.
- Ability to identify, analyze and resolve problems Possess a strong safety focus and exceptional safety record Good oral and written communication skills Ability to work safely and effectively in a team environment as well as independently
- Good computer skills with experience in Computer Maintenance Management softwares
