Rainy River Mine
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit and underground, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.
The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. About The Role
Position: Mill Operator – Control Room
Schedule: Shift 14/14 – 12 hour days
Position Reports To: Mill Supervisor
Position Overview
The
Mill Operator (Control Room) is responsible for operating and monitoring the mill via a computer-based control system to ensure safe production within equipment operational specifications and operational safety requirements. The CCRO will also respond to various alarms that will ensure the health and safety of workers in the mill. The CCRO must communicate effectively with various departments to effectively carry out his/her duties. This will be done under the direction of the Mill Supervisor or his/her designate.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Operates and monitor the computer-based control system within its design parameters.
- Coordinates operations in a timely and effective manner with Maintenance, Mining and Site Services
- Daily reporting and regular communication
- Participate in the training of relief control room operators. During this training you will be required to assume the responsibilities of the mill operator and complete all job tasks as directed by the Mill Supervisor or designate.
- Mentor fellow operators in understanding and adhering to daily activities
- Mentor fellow workers in achieving and maintaining a strong safety culture within the mill.
- Ensure the safe & efficient operation of all areas in the mill.
- Report any unsafe conditions to your supervisor immediately.
- Other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
- Ensure that guidelines are adhered to.
- Inspect the circuits regularly to detect any trouble spots and have them corrected as quickly as possible.
- Advise the supervisor of any problem areas.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 diploma or GED
- Valid Drivers’ License or working towards obtaining
- Must be familiar with gold milling processes;
- Exceptional communications skills;
- Ability to work in high stress situations and resolve issues;
- Highly effective organizational, time management and analytical skills;
- Ability to perform operations duties in various areas of the plant;
- Knowledge of the Delta V Process Control System is considered an asset;
- At least ten (10) years of Mill Operator experienced and three (3) years of Control Room Operator experience;
- Proven ability to analyze and solve process and mechanical problems;
- Able to work a 14 day /12 hour per day rotation with day and night shift schedule
- Inspect the circuits regularly to detect any trouble spots and have them corrected as quickly as possible.
- Advise the supervisor of any problem areas.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
Experience
- Knowledge of the Delta V Process Control System is considered an asset;
- At least five (5) years of Mill Operator experienced and two years of Control Room Operator experience;
- Grade 12 diploma or GED
- Valid Drivers’ License
