The Kipushi Project, in the DRC's province of Haut-Katanga and southeast of the company's Kamoa discovery, is adjacent to the town of Kipushi and approximately 30 kilometers southwest of the provincial capital of Lubumbashi. Ivanhoe Mines acquired its 68% interest in the Kipushi Project in November 2011; the balance of 32% is held by the DRC's state-owned mining company, Gécamines.
The Kipushi Project is based on the high-grade, underground zinc-copper mine in the Central African Copperbelt, which mined approximately 60 million tonnes grading 11% zinc and 7% copper between 1924 and 1993. In addition to producing copper and zinc, the mine produced 12,673 tonnes of lead and approximately 278 tonnes of germanium between 1956 and 1978.

To maintain and repair various electrical infrastructure for the benefit of mining continuity. The scope of the incumbent's role includes general high voltage electrical work on the surface and underground, including main sub stations, workshops and pump stations for the mine electrical reticulation system including the coaching of Artisans and assistant Electricians.
You will have the following:- Trade certificate
- Qualified Electrician
- Formal Training Certificate by an approved service provider (HT phasing, switching and cable jointing)
- 7+ years' relevant experience as and electrician (HT) working across a range of operational environments
- Experience in the mining environment highly advantageous
You will have advanced skills and knowledge in:
- Electrical skills
- High-voltage knowledge and experience
- Interpret designs, instructions
- Experience with electrical reticulation systems
- Ensure safe switching and lock out practices
- Perform electrical tests, read results and diagnose and repair electrical problems

Your Key Performance Activities will include but not limited to:
Process: Deliver work according to Standard Operating Procedures
- Receive work briefs and take direction from Line Manager
- Ensure unfinished jobs from previous days are completed
- Understand and apply blueprints and technical diagrams
- Do switching and maintenance on the high voltage electrical reticulation system
- Inspect electrical components including transformers and circuit breakers
- Use testing devices to identify and report electrical problems
- Use hand and power tools
- Adhere to business, national and local building regulations
- Install circuit boards, outlets and other electrical equipment
- Troubleshoot electrical problems and make repairs accordingly
- Undertake any urgent repairs as directed
- Report any required stock/spared/parts to Line Manager and assist in the collection of materials
- Maintain a continuous Quality Assurance checking process, ensuring that work being done is satisfactory and completed to quality and standards
- make available finished jobs for inspection and approval by Line Manager
- maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment at all times
- Monitor and control business processes according to quality standards, policy, and compliance and governance requirements in area of accountability.
