KAMOA COPPER SA is looking for a Specialized Officer, ISTAR, Aviation and Automation
The Kamoa Copper Mine, is a joint venture between Ivanhoe Mines (39.6%), Zijin Mining Group (39.6%), Crystal River Global Limited (0.8%) and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (20%). It's a very large, near-surface, flat-lying, stratiform copper deposit with adjacent prospective exploration areas within the Central African Copperbelt, at approximately 25 kilometres west of the town of Kolwezi and about 270 kilometres west of the provincial capital of Lubumbashi.
Purpose of the role:
To coordinate aerial surveillance and operate Kamoa Copper unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV). The incumbent ensures the highest of professional standards whilst maintaining critical surveillance of incidents, and updates security services, emergency response teams and management accordingly
Experience and Qualifications:
- Qualified drone payload operator or equivalent
- Min 3 years relevant security related experience with UAV flying of minimum 50 hours and radio and telecommunications skills. Camera operation and CCTV system exposure highly advantageous
- Able to communicate in French, English, Swahili, Lingala.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform arial surveillance via the UAV on board camera devices.
- Notify and update security services, Emergency Response teams and management as to any incident and maintaining critical surveillance of incidents.
- The operator will provide further assistance with monitoring and use of the lighthouse CCTV camera project and participate in all aspects of this project.
- Perform daily safety checks on all aircraft allocated to the UAV team or assigned area of duty.
- Perform preflight checks.
- Plan and ensure a safe flight path are always maintained.
- Ensure all flight paths are adequately recorded and saved into the flight management system.
- Perform handover to and from additional UAV team members to ensure continuation of all tasks.
- Recording of all flight times, missions performed, or tasks performed during the shift.
- Complete and file all checklists completed and update management immediately of any shortfalls or safety concerns.
- Liaise continuously with various Security, Emergency Departments or Management as to any incident and the developments if these incidents.
- Monitor and record any emergency, security related incident or other incidents as requested by any of the Risk Management team.
- Ensure the safety of all emergency department team members responding to incidents, whilst at incidents and post incident.
