About Island Gold District: Alamos Gold’s Island Gold District will become one of the largest and lowest-cost gold mines in Canada. With the two mines within the district, Island Gold and Magino employ over 900 team members who work in the underground and open pit operations and are located in northern Ontario, just east of the town of Dubreuilville, 83 kilometres northeast of Wawa. Duties
- Install, align, take apart and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment, such as pumps, fans, tanks, conveyors, compressors, rock-breakers and generators according to layout plans using hand and power tools.
- Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and find irregularities and malfunctions.
- Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems.
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications.
- Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on various equipment on site, off site and underground.
- Attach components and adjust new equipment.
- Operate machine tools, such as lathes and grinders, to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance or set-up of machinery.
- Do minor welding repairs on equipment.
- Assist heavy duty mobile mechanics when required.
- Create work-orders, find parts and complete parts list in work-orders using all available resources.
- All other duties as assigned.
Other Skills & Abilities
- Completion of secondary school is required.
- Completion of a four-year apprenticeship program in industrial mechanics (millwright) or a combination of several years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in industrial machinery repair or millwright.
- Have basic Underground common core modules.
- Prompt daily attendance at assigned schedule.
- Willingness to work alternative shifts as assigned.
- Must supply own mechanic tools.
- Comfortable working in an underground environment.
- Good vision, hearing and must have the strength and stamina required to work with heavy equipment and work in cramped or awkward positions, lift objects of various shapes up to 75lbs.
- Mechanical ability and an interest in all types of machinery, electronics and precision equipment.
- Must have good diagnostic skills.
- The ability to think logically and keep up with changes in technology.
Rotation
- 14 on, 14 off, 12HR (Days only)
- Bunkhouse and Kitchen access are provided while onsite.
- Travel allowance depending on location
