About Island Gold District: Alamos Gold’s Island Gold District will become one of the largest and lowest-cost gold mines in Canada. With the two mines within the district, Island Gold and Magino employ over 900 team members who work in the underground and open pit operations and are located in northern Ontario, just east of the town of Dubreuilville, 83 kilometres northeast of Wawa. Primary Responsibilities
- Assist in near mine exploration and resource development.
- Identify and generate new exploration opportunities near mine.
- Use Datamine Software to create and interpret models of ore zones and lithologies.
- Compile, evaluate and interpret geological, and geochemical data.
- Development of short-to-medium-term exploration objectives and strategies aligned with the mine plan.
- Diamond drill hole target generation and drill planning for resource growth.
- Provide project management and logistical support for projects and contribute to geological reports and documentation.
- Contributing to the preparation of technical and assessment reports.
- Verify that the QA/QC is properly respected in the sampling process, drilling, or any other activity.
- All other tasks related to the resource growth and near mine exploration programs in the Island Gold Mine area as required by their supervisor.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications And Experience
- Post secondary education in Geology or Earth Science
- 3-5 years of experience in a mining environment.
- Strong communication, computing, planning and problem-solving skills
- Flexibility/Adaptability, Analytical Skills, Safety
- Understanding of geological settings, deposit models, and ore-forming processes as it pertains to the latest concepts of gold deposit environments.
- Experience with 3D geological modelling, data analysis, and drill planning.
- Knowledge of geostatistical mineral resource estimation fundamentals
- Familiarity with mineral reserve estimation, underground and open pit mine production, grade control, production/development planning and reconciliation.
- Proficiency in geological modeling and resource estimation software such as Leapfrog, Datamine, Surpac, or Vulcan. Datamine experience preferred.
- Self-motivated and able to perform and communicate effectively within a dynamic and evolving environment.
- Registered as a Geologist in Training (GIT) or Professional Geologist (P.Geo) desirable.
Working Conditions
- 7x7 or 14x14 work schedule
- Office, surface and underground work environment.
- May be required to manipulate core boxes and sample bags which can weigh 40-50 pounds.
- Periodic travel underground.

- Extended periods sitting.
- Long periods working on computer
Travel
- Bunkhouse and Kitchen access are provided while onsite.
- Flights are avalible from Toronto, Sudbury, Thunder Bay and Rouyn, QC.
- Travel allowance depending on location
