UG Electrical Specialist, who will be the regional technical lead responsible for Underground HME electrical reliability, statutory electrical compliance, and HV/LV mobile electrical maintenance standards across

Responsibilities
- Define and maintain Underground HME electrical maintenance standards across the AME region.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for complex Underground electrical failures and HV equipment issues.
- Support BEV implementation and electrification initiatives from an operational maintenance perspective.
- Govern Underground electrical maintenance compliance with:
- Statutory regulations
- Barrick electrical standards
- Site electrical safety requirements
- Support reliability improvement of:
- Underground HME electrical systems
- HV systems
- Underground service equipment
- Decline pumping systems
- Ventilation electrical systems
- Work with Engineering to manage agreed battery limits between HME maintenance and fixed infrastructure ownership.
- Support development of regional electrical maintenance strategies and lifecycle planning.
- Provide technical input into:
- New Underground projects
- Capital equipment selection
- Electrification projects
- Equipment standardisation initiatives
- Support integration of machine electrical systems with:
- Automation systems
- Telemetry systems
- OT infrastructure
- BEV technologies
- Develop regional electrical capability through coaching, training, and technical mentoring.
- Monitor electrical performance KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives across Underground operations.
- Support Underground expansion planning and major maintenance activities where required.
- Ensure all electrical activities comply with:
- Barrick standards
- Electrical governance requirements
- Local statutory obligations
- Underground operational requirements
Qualification Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field preferred.
- Trade qualification as an Electrician with advanced Underground mining electrical experience may be considered.
- Statutory electrical competency certificates relevant to Underground mining are required or strongly preferred depending on jurisdiction.
- Certifications may include:
- Mine Electrical Engineer certification.
- Electrical supervisory certification.
- Statutory Underground electrical qualifications.
- Professional registration with a relevant engineering body is beneficial.
Experience
- Minimum 8–10 years’ experience in electrical maintenance within large-scale Underground mining operations.
- Strong Underground electrical maintenance experience across multiple sites is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience developing and driving electrical reliability and compliance improvement initiatives.
- Proven experience defining and implementing:
- Electrical maintenance standards.
- Compliance frameworks.
- Electrical governance systems.
- Maintenance quality standards.
- Demonstrated experience in complex Underground HME electrical diagnostics and failure analysis.
- Demonstrated experience influencing site electrical teams across multiple locations without direct line authority.
- Experience in delivering electrical maintenance training and building electrical capability within operational teams.
- Experience collaborating with automation, OT, and telemetry systems is advantageous.
- Experience working with OEMs, vendors, and technical service providers is advantageous.

- Corrective maintenance.
- Root cause analysis.
- Strong understanding of statutory electrical regulations across Underground mining operations.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with OT, automation, telemetry, and electrification systems.
- Ability to support integration of electrical condition monitoring data into SAP and Barrick-approved complementary reliability platforms.
- Strong analytical and reporting capability.
- Excellent influencing, coaching, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to hold site teams accountable across dispersed locations without direct line authority.
- Strong project management and performance tracking capability.
- Ability to travel regularly across AME Underground sites..
