About The Role
China represents the largest market for both Rio Tinto Group and Rio Tinto Iron Ore (RTIO). We are currently seeking an Analyst – Traders & Growth, whose primary responsibility will be to help foster relationships with Chinese domestic trading companies and mills, as well as support the Singapore commercial team in maximizing the value of the iron ore portfolio.
Reporting to the Manager Traders & Growth, you will
- Assist Manager Traders & Growth in executing the RTIO sales and marketing strategy in the target market.
- Provide support in managing key account relationships and offer critical insights to facilitate an objective assessment of the commercial value associated with these clients.
- Supporting new business development and spot sales while making sure customer obligations are fulfilled according to contract terms.
- Analysis of customer needs, business models, macroeconomic insights on the Chinese steel industry, key supply and demand indicators.
- Actively involved in execution of sales and marketing initiatives and projects.
- Coordinate senior-level visits to key customers, which includes planning schedules, itineraries, and agendas; arranging logistics; preparing meeting briefs; and delivering travel notes in a timely manner.
- Comply with applicable government regulations, professional standards and Rio Tinto policies.
About You
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have
- Bachelor’s degree or above, majored in marketing, economics, finance, geosciences or engineering,
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills,
- Good team player with fundamental leadership skills,
- Sense of innovation on new approaches,
- Skills in handling rapidly changing business environment and readily challenges assumptions,
- Ability to connect and liaise with a diverse range of people,
- Ability to handle pressure and frequent travels,
- Good understanding of steel industry, mining and/or international trading is preferred,
- Approximately 2 years of relevant sales or trading analysis experience,
- Fluency in Mandarin and English.

You will be based in our office in Shanghai.
