Regional Manager – Construction Management will play a key role in ensuring the proper implementation of construction methodologies, constructability principles and best practices across all projects in the South America portfolio, including selected major projects and Joint Ventures. This role provides technical oversight, leads independent reviews, and contributes to project design and execution in alignment with Glencore’s Capital Management Framework (CMF). As part of the
South America Capital Projects team, this role will engage with technical and operational leaders across the region to enhance capital efficiency, optimize project execution and promote a culture of continuous improvement. This role reports directly to the
General Manager – Regional Capital Projects.
In this role you will be responsible for:
Overseeing project construction execution:
- Provide technical guidance on constructability and construction management throughout all project phases (studies, design, execution).
- Ensure standardization and modularization of engineering and construction components.
- Participate in project Steering Committees and lead Independent Peer Reviews (IPRs, PIRs, MFRs).
Leading review processes and continuous improvement:
- Update and apply constructability review methodologies in line with the CMF.
- Identify technical risks and capital improvement opportunities.
- Support lessons learned processes and drive cost (capex/opex) optimization.
Collaborating with key internal areas and technical stakeholders:
- Interface with Engineering, Procurement, Finance, Operational Excellence, and Asset Management teams.
- Ensure technical, regulatory, and operational inputs are reflected in project designs.
- Align external contractors, consultants, and internal teams to deliver on construction objectives.
Strengthening regional capabilities:
- Share best practices and develop tools to support project teams across the region.
- Coach and mentor Project Managers and key personnel on constructability and construction management.
- Promote a capital effectiveness mindset and project execution excellence.
About your profile:
- 15+ years of experience in construction management within the mining or industrial sectors, in owner or EPC/EPCM roles.
- Degree in Engineering or Construction Management. Specialization in Project Management (preferred).
- Proven experience in brownfield project execution (greenfield is a plus).
- Strong technical knowledge in construction methodologies, contracting models (EPC, EPCM, lump sum, reimbursable), and risk management.
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and influencing skills at all levels.
- Fluent in both English and Spanish.
- Semi-autonomous, self-motivated, highly pro-active and resilient attitude
Certifications and additional knowledge (Preferred):
- Experience in technical assurance and project review processes.
- Familiarity with capital governance frameworks (CMF or equivalent).
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
