Rainy River Mine
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.
The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. About The Role
Position: Underground Electrical Planner
Schedule: 7/7 - 12 hour days
Position Reports To: U/G Electrical General Foreman
Position Overview
Under direction from the Underground Electrical General Foreman, perform scoping, planning, and scheduling of weekly electrical activities in the Underground Mine as well as developing maintenance plans for all associated equipment in the mine.
Key Responsibilities - Scope job requirements for submitted work notifications taking into consideration all applicable planning elements including:
- Craft selection and manpower estimates.
- Engineering and technical service requirements.
- Site support equipment requirements.
- Rental equipment requirements.
- Special service provider requirements.
- Contractor support requirements.
- Drawing, photos, manuals, and other technical requirements.
- Detailed work procedures and instructions required to complete the task.
- Inventory parts and materials requirements.
- Direct charge material requirements (i.e. non-inventory items).
- Work permit requirements including but not limited to hot work, confined space, working at heights, and any related rescue plans.
- Lock-out-tag-out (LOTO) requirements.
- Testing, commissioning, and start-up requirements.
- Ensure that all planned jobs comply with all New Gold, provincial, and federal policies related to health, safety, and the environment.
- As required facilitate meetings with requestors of work to clarify scoping and planning requirements.
- As required facilitate bid walks and site visits by third party contractors and special service providers.
- As required oversee and support small projects executed by contractors or other special service providers.
- Collaborate with maintenance personnel to maintain a constant feedback loop with ideas and suggestions to continually optimize job scoping, planning, and scheduling.
- Assist with the continued management of asset bills of material (BOMs).
- Compile and archive completed work order documentation.
- Perform other duties as required and as directed by the General Foreman
Qualifications
- Interprovincial Electrical License (309A or 442A) or engineering degree in a related discipline.
- Training, certification, or demonstrated experience in continuous improvement and operational excellence would be an asset (e.g., Six-Sigma, Lean, Kaizen, etc.) would be an asset.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Underground Mining
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings including, but not limited to Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), Electrical Schematics, and Installation Operation and Maintenance (IOM) manuals.
- Beginner to intermediate level skills with the Microsoft Office software suite.
- Previous experience with SAP ERP software is desired. Previous experience with other ERP software including, but not limited to JD Edwards, Oracle/eAM, MIMS/Ellipse or others would be an asset.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems of moderate complexity.
- Able to walk and stand for long periods of time, which includes climbing stairs and ladders.
- Able to work with minimal supervision while delivering superior results.
- A demonstrated commitment to operational excellence and continuous improvement in assigned roles and responsibilities.
- Proven track record showing a commitment to health and safety and to environmental protection.
