PAYROLL ADMINISTRATOR
The Payroll Administrator assists with preparing and processing the Côté Gold bi-weekly payroll. The Payroll Administrator works collaboratively with the Payroll team, Human Resources and Finance departments to ensure payroll is aligned with the organization’s policies.
Key Responsibilities
Area 1:
Prepare and process payroll.
- Process payroll for Ontario and Quebec employees.
- Ensure timely calculation, set-up, processing, and remittance of all garnishments in accordance with the notice details.
- Receive and process new employee information and data changes.
- Transfer time and attendance into payroll.
- Verify vacation/statutory holiday/sick time banks/leaves of absence and related adjustments.
- Review and update employee benefit changes such as RPP, RRSP, TFSA, ESPP, taxable group insurance and optional coverage deductions.
- Calculate and process termination payments in payroll system and issue records of employment.
- Process terminations in time and attendance system once payments are complete.
- Review, verify and correct any errors before submitting payroll for review.
- Maintain and administer payroll schedules, deadlines, and organizational policies.
- Provide technical support for regular use of the time and attendance system and payroll system employee portal.
- Electronically file weekly payroll information.
- Liaise with all level of employees regarding payroll questions or concerns.
Area 2
Assist with monthly and year-end processing of reports and reconciliations.
- Assist with monthly payroll reporting.
- Support year-end tax remittance processing.
- Assisting with government remittances.
- Assist with other projects as required.
Area 3
Work collaboratively with others to deliver payroll excellence.
- Complete information requests from various government agencies.
- Ensure any requests for information and internal reports are produced in a timely manner.
- Continuously seek to improve your skills as a Payroll Administrator.
- Commit to continuous learning and improvement.
- Watch for inefficiencies or problems.
- Ensure problems and inefficiencies are shared with others.
- Mentor and train new team members.
- Participate in and lend your expertise to the team.
- Communicate clearly and effectively using the tools provided.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver on our commitment to our team, our communities, the environment, and our shareholders.
Job Qualifications
Minimum Requirements And Nice To Haves
minimum qualifications, formal education, certifications or equivalents
- Post-secondary education in payroll, accounting, or other related field.
- Canadian Payroll Certification is considered an asset but not required.
Work experience - Nature & Length
- 1 or more year of experience with wage and salary payroll processing.
- Experience within an industrial setting with various shift rotations desired.
Additional Qualifications - Competency Requirements
- English proficiency for written and oral communications. French is considered an asset.
- Basic knowledge of Ontario Employment Standards and Government related Legislation.
- Ability to process large volume of transactions and respect deadlines.
- High attention to details.
- Basic accounting fundamentals.
- Good knowledge of generally offered employment benefits.
- Ability to work with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Knowledge of UKG Dimensions and Nethris are considered an asset.
