Lead, Compliance, Risk & Audits
Reporting to the General Manager, the Business Compliance, Risk, and Audit Lead will manage and coordinate all aspects of governance, compliance, risk management and audits for Côté Gold. The incumbent will direct governance, risk and audit activities, ensure compliance in all fields, and ensure that mitigation and corrective actions are completed on time. Coordination with all departments, follow-up, and reporting are key elements of the Compliance, Risk and Audit Lead role.
Area 1
Key Areas of Responsibility & Duties:
Lead and coordinate all aspects related to risk management, which includes facilitating risk reviews.
- Understand the risk profile of IAMGOLD and provide critical thinking in business decision making for Côté Gold.
- Analyze information and prepare technical documents to support decision making.
- Provide information and analysis to improve Côté Gold’s ability to make short, medium, and long term decisions.
- Lead implementation of the Enterprise Risk Management framework across Côté Gold.
- Coordinate risk activity levels – risk identification, assessment & evaluation, and mitigation/monitoring.
- Develop collaborative relationship with the departments, training them how to think about identifying and mitigating risks in their environment.
- Develop and support the execution of business practices with a risk management focus.
- Follow-up, control and report on the mitigation actions on a monthly basis.
Area 2
Develop the internal audit strategy and provide guidance to Côté Gold leaders
- Assist in the development of risk based agile audits for Côté Gold.
- Assist in the development of long-term strategies for internal audit structure.
- Assist in coordinating internal audits.
- Leverage data analytics and provide meaningful insights on underlying issues and trends.
Area 3
Lead and coordinate all aspects related to compliance.
- Define compliance strategic goals and priorities in liaison with Corporate and Côté Gold leadership.
- Build and oversee all aspects of the program: process and documentation development, planning, resources, implementation, reporting and measure of performance.
- Develop and implement strategies and procedures for risk identification, the detection and the prevention of crime, fraud, abuse and/or policy breaches related to the company’s operations.
- Establish and coordinate with Compliance Investigations Intake & Triage Committee with key partners (Legal, Audit, Finances, HR…) and liaise with the corporate committee.
- Provide proactive counsel to leadership in identifying risks and vulnerabilities with key processes and proposing enhancement opportunities to limit exposure from threat elements.
- Create and coordinate the Compliance Investigations Intake & Triage Committee with other departments. Chair and coordinate committee meetings, recommend improvements and follow-up action items.
- Demonstrate the execution of the program, via tracking and reporting of activity, training and investigations results.
- Maintain a specific business integrity and investigations risk register/risk profile.

Be alert and observe, correct and report unsafe conditions. Follow operating procedures and comply with all regulatory requirements. Intervene as necessary, to ensure the safety of others in the workplace. Provide safety leadership by always setting a good example.

Job Qualifications
Qualifications & Skill Requirements
Minimum Qualifications, Formal Education, Certifications Or Equivalents
- Post secondary degree in a relevant discipline (engineering, administration, etc)
- Mining industry experience is preferred.
- Canadian Risk Management (CRM) designation is considered an asset.
Work Experience – Nature & Length
- 12 or more years of related experience in risk management, audit and internal controls.
- Experience working with Risk Management frameworks such as COSO, COBIT and ISO 31000.
Additional Qualifications – Competency Requirements
- HAZOP, WHATIF, etc. risk facilitator experience.
- Well-organized; good deal of independent judgment and discretion/confidentiality.
- Superior written/oral communications skills.
- Proven ability to interact and manage effectively at all levels of the organization including with senior management and the Directors/Committees of the Board of Directors.
- Use business and industry knowledge to predict the need for change. Anticipate resistance to change and develop plans to overcome it.
- Proven ability to be effective under pressure, can operate with a sense of urgency and deliver high-quality work within designated timelines.
- Ability to prioritize and manage deadlines; strong project management skills.
- Excellent communication (verbal, written and listening) and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to use conceptual thinking and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High level of personal and professional ethics.
- Proficient in a computerized work environment, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of regulatory, risk management and auditing standards preferred.
- High level of reporting volume with accuracy.
- Ability to follow-up, control and coordination of corrective and mitigation actions.
