The open-pit gold mine is a joint venture between IAMGOLD and Sumitomo Metal Mining Co. Ltd. and is operated by IAMGOLD. We are located near Gogama, Ontario, with access to stable infrastructure and strong connections with our local communities.

FINANCIAL ANALYST
The financial analyst is involved in many aspects of the business and liaises with the different departments while working collaboratively with the finance team to ensure the work is aligned with Iamgold’s values and policies. The main responsibilities of the role is to ensure accurate and timely closure of the monthly accounts, prepare monthly/ quarterly and annual deviation analyses, update of monthly forecast, preparation of the annual budget and life-of-mine update and other ad-hoc analyses and projects as required.
Key Responsibilities
Area 1:
Monthly analysis and financial accounting
- Prepare, analyze and report on changes in production, cash costs, net income, operating cash flow and capital expenditure, highlighting changes to help understand key drivers of the business.
- Monthly management reporting - key player in the preparation of the monthly management reports
- Assist in the preparation of internal and external reporting to Cote Gold Management, IAMGOLD Management, the Board and other parties as required
- Prepare and update the monthly forecast and related reports
- Timely and accurate closing of the Cote Gold ledger
- Preparing monthly journal entries, reconciliations and quarterly questionnaires
- Preparing various financial reports and related analysis as required on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
- Assist in the monthly, quarterly and annual variance analysis of balance sheet and income statement accounts
- Assist in management of Cote Gold chart of accounts
- Develop cost allocation strategies with the team
- Liaise and work collaboratively with the different departments to understand and comment on identified variances
- Advise on cost coding and on the purchasing process when needed
Area 2
Assist in the budget/Life-of-mine exercises
- Assist in preparing the budget templates sent to the different departments and consolidate into the financial model.
- Suggest ideas and methods to improve the budget process
- Detect inconsistencies and show critical thinking while reviewing the budget
- Suggest, analyze, and comment on the assumptions used in the budget
Area 3
Perform various analysis and take ownership of tasks, as required and assigned - Examples of tasks that could be included:
- Management of the fixed assets & leases register and capital expenditure process
- Project accounting for construction-in-progress
- Inventory accounting (finished goods, stockpiles, gold-in-circuit) and calculation of capitalized waste stripping
- Involvement in the documentation and improvement of processes
- Any other tasks as may be assigned from time to time
Job Qualifications
Minimum Requirements and Nice To Haves
Minimum Qualifications, Formal Education, Certifications Or Equivalents
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field
- Formal professional designation (CPA or equivalent)
Work experience - Nature & Length
- 2 or more years of experience working in a public accounting firm and/or working in the industry
Additional Qualifications - Competency Requirements
- English proficiency for written and oral communications. French is considered an asset.
- Good working knowledge of MS Office, including a high level of proficiency in MS Excel.
- Knowledge of Oracle or an ERP considered an asset
