About The Role
The objective of this role is to provide support to the Procurement Manager on strategic sourcing projects related to materials as part of implementing contracts that deliver optimal value to Simfer SA.
You will be based in Conakry, with frequent trips to the sites (Beyla and Forécariah), inland and to the port. Possibility of doing FIFO (fly in fly out), to be discussed.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading a category portfolio of material sourcing (equipment, office supplies, etc.) and/or services
- Managing the sourcing team that will support your activities
- Gathering and generating insights through market analysis to identify potential sources of supply and value creation
- Developing and implementing sourcing contracts, strategies, and procedures to support Simandou project activities
- Ensuring effective execution of sourcing activities including preparation of tender documents, supplier selection, commercial negotiation, in accordance with Simfer SA requirements for procedures, documentation, integrity, and governance
- Establishing KPIs to monitor supplier performance
- Identifying cost reduction opportunities
- Driving continuous improvement within Simfer SA sourcing processes
- Managing, engaging and influencing key stakeholders (including internal clients and suppliers) to ensure supply and replenishment of materials
What You Will Bring
- MBA, Master’s, Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Business, Law, or Engineering
- ASCM or CIPS certification would be an advantage
- 5 to 7 years of experience in contract management and procurement or similar field
- Experience in project management and strong understanding of contract management principles
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to solve problems and engage stakeholders across the supply chain
- Ability to quickly understand a variety of concepts, practices, and procedures related to supply chain
- Good IT skills MS Word, Projects and Excel
- Strong bilingual communication skills (French and English)
- Experience managing high-performing teams in a multicultural environment is an advantage
- Good understanding of commercial and mining law in Guinea is preferred
- ERP experience (SAP) is an advantage

About The Simandou Project
The Simandou Iron Ore Project is located in the Republic of Guinea, West Africa. It is Africa’s largest infrastructure and mining project and represents one of the largest known reserves of high-grade iron ore in the world.
Rio Tinto holds rights to Simandou Blocks 3 and 4 through SimFer, a joint venture between the Government of the Republic of Guinea, Rio Tinto and Chalco Iron Ore Holdings (CIOH). Construction of the mine, together with the associated rail and port infrastructure, is well underway with first production from the SimFer mine expected in 2025.
