Reporting to the Senior Accountant – Financial Reporting, you will be responsible for effectively overseeing the cash management, banking relations and compliance with accounting principles and regulations.
Your Duties and Responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:
- Ensure proper recording of financial transactions.
- Ensure that Reconciliations of bank accounts are accurate and timely.
- Forecast and monitor cash flows to ensure the availability of funds for operational needs.
- Execute daily cash positioning and reconcile cash transactions.
- Optimize cash balances to maximize returns while maintaining liquidity.
- Ensure rolling Cashflow forecast is provided weekly as per advised timelines and ad hoc as requested.
- Ensure statutory payments are made in timely manner.
- Establish and maintain relationships with banks and financial institutions.
- Coordinate debt issuance, repayments, and refinancing as necessary.
- Prepare debt-related reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Monitor and report on risk management activities.
- Prepare and analyze financial reports related to treasury activities.
- Circulate bank position as per internal reporting guidelines.
- Ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Provide financial information for internal and external audits.
- Manage prepayment accounts, ensuring timely posting of prepayments to vendor accounts.
- Weekly reconciliation of prepayment accounts to ensure accurate financial reporting (address and resolve discrepancies between prepayments and invoices in coordination with vendors and Supply Chain/End-users)
- Stay abreast of financial regulations and ensure compliance with relevant laws and industry standards.
- Implement and enforce internal controls to safeguard financial assets.
- Collaborate with other departments to develop budgets and financial forecasts related to treasury functions.
- Identify specific areas for cost improvement and ensure the development and implementation of action plans to achieve these gains (Cost saving initiatives).
- Ensuring that the organization’s accounting policies, procedures and standards are implemented effectively and, in a manner, consistent with the development of a cost-conscious culture in the workforce.
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Full Grade 12 School Certificate.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Professional qualifications such as ACCA or CIMA will be an added advantage.
- Member of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA).
- Minimum of 3 years’ work experience; experience in the mining sector will be an added advantage.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, practices, and contract management.
- Good knowledge of relevant legislation affecting employment and safety within the mining industry in Zambia.
