Your Next Challenge
Reporting to the Exploration Coordinator, you will be part of the Exploration team and works on all exploration activities. You will play an important role in the Exploration team, assisting with supervision and participating in drill hole planning, geological interpretation and 3D modelling, exploration target generation, QA/QC of core logs and sampling, update and assist in database management, ensure compliance with QA/QC protocols and prepare reports. You will ensure that objectives are met in accordance with Agnico Eagle’s culture, health & safety and environment standards.
- Assist with the planning and supervision of diamond drilling programs.
- Assist with the supervision of the logging staff, technicians and core shack staff.
- Manage and organize exploration data, update databases and maintain accurate records.
- Participate in the geological interpretation and in the 3D modelling.
- Import assay results into databases and models.
- Conduct QA/QC on drill logs and sampling.
- Ensure that QA/QC protocols are respected.
- Daily follow-up, supervision of contractors and invoice validation.
- Contribute to weekly, monthly, quarterly and press release report preparation.
- Contribute to the development of exploration strategies and target generation.
- Ensure the effective transfer of information between shifts.
- Ensure that all Agnico Eagle’s health & safety and environmental policies are always respected by all employees and contractors.
What You Need To Succeed
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Geological Engineering.
- Have a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in surface and/or underground exploration.
- Must be a member in good standing of a Professional Geologist Association in a Canadian province or territory, or be eligible for, and working towards becoming a professional in a Canadian province or territory.
- Working knowledge of Leapfrog, ArcGIS, Datamine, DHLogger /Fusion, and MSOffice software, including MS Access. Knowledge of SQL and VBA considered an asset.
- Strong computer and data management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team, and autonomously, well organized.
- Experience with exploration drilling programs, including drill planning and supervision.
- Experience with managing contractors and overseeing field operations.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively under pressure.
- Ability to effectively communicate in English (oral and written).
- Experience working in an arctic climate, and in a multicultural environment is an asset.
- Knowledge of gold-related metallogeny, structural geology, geochemistry, and geophysics are an asset.
- Strong commitment to health & safety and the environment.
Your Work Schedule
- Schedule: 14 days of work in Nunavut, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from all communities in the Kivalliq region, Mirabel or Val-d’Or, Quebec;
- Working Location : Nunavut, Meliadine and Me, Nunavut
