Your Next Challenge
Reporting to the Assistant Mine Controller, you will be part of the Finance Department. You will be responsible for the financial asset reporting including fixed assets, intangible assets and work in progress. You will track the life cycle of fixed assets, from acquisition to disposal, ensuring compliance with IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) and assisting in preparing Group’s reporting package. You will also ensure compliance to the relevant SOX controls and be an active contributor to the Finance team. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
- Maintain accurate records for all fixed assets by:
- running monthly depreciation and performing an analysis comparing with prior month to ensure there are no abnormal deviations
- timely creation of assets in the FA module on completion of a capital project, and
- processing asset disposals and retirements in a timely and accurate manner
- Prepare and maintain asset continuity schedule reconciling asset register to General Ledger regularly to identify any discrepancies and deviations
- Process AFEs (Application for Expenditure) for capital expenditures & ensure accurate accounting for all capital asset transactions by regularly reviewing capital expenditures with relevant project leads and ensure that they meet capitalization criteria per Group Accounting Policies and IFRS
- Review and track capital expenditures against budget and update management of any expected delays timely to enable management plan accordingly
- Ensure compliance with SOX controls and accounting policies for fixed asset management and assist with internal and external audits by providing requested reports and documentation
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and assist in implementing best practices for fixed asset management
What You Need To Succeed
- Bachelor’s Degree or College Diploma in a related discipline (Business, Commerce, Accounting, Economics,etc
- Professional accounting designation / CPA or international accounting qualification is required
- Three to five years of relevant experience
- Previous experience of general accounting and working with general ledgers
- Knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Experience with SAP/JDE is considered a strong asset
- Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint
Your Work Schedule
- Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday at one of our Northern Ontario offices. Occasional visits to site may also be required. Teleremote working is available
- For candidates outside Northern Ontario, position will require relocating to Northern Ontario
