The open-pit gold mine is a joint venture between IAMGOLD and Sumitomo Metal Mining Co. Ltd. and is operated by IAMGOLD. We are located near Gogama, Ontario, with access to stable infrastructure and strong connections with our local communities.

LEAD, ENERGY MANAGEMENT AND PROJECTS
The Energy Management and Projects Lead is responsible for driving energy efficiency, sustainability initiatives, and project execution at Cote Gold. This role focuses on optimizing energy consumption, implementing innovative energy solutions, and ensuring compliance with environmental and regulatory standards. The successful candidate will advance energy initiatives, including decarbonization and EMIS assessments, and support the company’s commitment to responsible resource management.
Key Responsibilities
Area 1:
Energy Management and Optimization
- Manage electricity forecasting, budgeting and settlement of invoices.
- Manage the metering service provider.
- Oversee ICI Top 5 peaks and capacity auctions.
- Develop and implement energy management strategies to improve efficiency and reduce consumption across site operations.
- Monitor and analyze energy usage data to identify opportunities for cost savings and environmental improvements.
- Ensure compliance with relevant energy regulations and sustainability reporting requirements.
- Drive initiatives to integrate renewable energy and alternative fuel sources where feasible.
Area 2
Project Leadership and Execution
- Oversee energy-related capital projects, from planning and feasibility studies to execution and completion.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and stakeholder communication to ensure successful implementation.
- Work closely with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to integrate energy solutions into existing infrastructure.
- System impact assessments for future expansion.
- Participate in the Low Carbon Economy Challenge.
- Participate or lead a variety of programs; Green Industrial Facilities and Manufacturing Program, Energy Innovation Program and IESO subsidies.
- Decarbonization assessment
- EMIS implementation and energy monitoring project.
Area 3
Collaboration and Continuous Improvement.
- Act as the subject matter expert on energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives.
- Engage with external partners, industry groups, and regulatory bodies to stay ahead of best practices and emerging technologies.
- Support operational teams in implementing energy-efficient practices and training programs.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and reporting on energy projects and initiatives.
Job Qualifications
Minimum Requirements and Nice To Haves
Minimum Qualifications, Formal Education, Certifications Or Equivalents
- Post-secondary Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Energy Management or a related field.
Work experience - Nature & Length
- Minimum 7 years of experience in energy management, sustainability or project management, preferably in the mining or heavy industry sector.
- Strong knowledge of energy efficiency standards, sustainability regulations, and emerging energy technologies.
- Proven experience in project management, including budget and timeline management.
Additional Qualifications - Competency Requirements
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
- Strong communication and reporting skills to convey technical information effectively.
