The open-pit gold mine is a joint venture between IAMGOLD and Sumitomo Metal Mining Co. Ltd. and is operated by IAMGOLD. We are located near Gogama, Ontario, with access to stable infrastructure and strong connections with our local communities.

SENIOR ELECTRICAL ENGINEER
The Senior Electrical Engineer develops, implements and ensures compliance with the electrical maintenance program. They are responsible for managing projects and modifications related to electrical engineering and must technically support the various operation, engineering and site maintenance teams in order to achieve production, availability, cost and health and safety target.
Key Responsibilities
Area 1:
Develop, implement and ensure compliance with the electrical maintenance program.
- Develop fixed asset strategies, define priorities for criticality of equipment (FMECA), and ensure that reliability-centered maintenance tactics are reflected in the maintenance plan.
- Investigate and analyze the root causes of recurring failures (RCA) and propose solutions to eliminate problems on electrical equipment.
- Develop standards, methods and procedures for maintenance and operation of electrical equipment.
- Develop and integrate the electrical maintenance plan into the CMMS (Oracle eAM).
- Participate in the preparation and execution of shutdowns for electrical maintenance work.
Area 2
Manage projects and modifications related to electrical engineering.
- Supervise and inspect the installation and operation of electrical and electronic systems and equipment.
- Design, modify and validate electrical, instrumentation and control engineering drawings and plans.
- Coordinate the realization of projects with the various departments and contractors.
- Prepare feasibility studies, material cost and timing estimates, reports and design specifications.
- Ensure the quality and revision of drawings and technical documentation of electrical equipment in the system.
- Ensure compliance with and application of electrical standards, laws and codes.
Area 3
Technically support the operation, engineering and maintenance teams.
- Identify future needs necessary to maintain operations and improve the electrical reliability of equipment.
- Report and communicate progress and participate in various maintenance projects and business improvement initiatives.
- Provide technical expertise, support and training to the junior engineers and technicians.
- Act as a technical advisor for a variety of internal and external requests.
- Write reports and prepare technical documents to support decision-making.
- Develop and review procedures, trainings and PPEs for workplace electrical Health and Safety.
- Participate in collaboration with the Chief Electrical Engineer in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
Area 4
Work collaboratively with others to deliver innovative continuous improvement opportunities.
- Seek and implement best-in-class practices.
- Propose new methods to meet challenges of electrical engineering.
- Propose and improve the design to address process constraints while remaining cost efficient
- Keep abreast of trends in electrical engineering and impart to Cote Gold.
- Provide new approaches, methods or policies to optimize performance and ensure compliance with industry regulations and organizational standards.
- Continuously seek to improve technical knowledge and skills.
- Conduct research and benchmarking to support decision-making and improve electrical processes, technologies and methodologies.
Job Qualifications
Minimum Requirements And Nice To Haves
minimum qualifications, formal education, certifications or equivalents
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required
- Registration (or eligibility to register) as a Professional Engineer in Ontario (PEO)
Work experience - Nature & Length
- A minimum of 7 years of related work experience
- Previous experience in open pit mining or mineral processing (specifically gold processing) is considered an asset.
Additional Qualifications - Competency Requirements
- Knowledge of applicable codes and legislation in electricity.
- Knowledge of high voltage equipment, large AC motors, VFDs, Switchgears, MCCs, PLCs and instrumentation.
- Proficiency in computer applications and maintenance softwares.
- A valid Ontario drivers license is required.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to work independently and in team settings,
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Good observational and analytical skills.
- Must be able to handle a high level of confidentiality.
