What will you be responsible for?
Support the Business unit with the acquisition, management and divestment of land assets, ensuring alignment with business goals while maximizing long-term value and mitigating risks
What You’ll Do:
In this role, the individual will:
- Ensure the fulfilment of statutory, regulatory, and contractual mineral, mining, and state-owned land tenure obligations through the BU land team, necessary to maintain the validity of the Company’s mineral, mining, and state-owned land rights including, but not limited to, coordinating with cross functional partners to ensure (i) minimum work expenditures are budgeted for and incurred; (ii) monetary obligations are budgeted for, duly paid, or received; (iii) reports required by governmental authorities and counterparties are duly submitted or received; and (iv) field monuments demarcating land boundary lines are erected and maintained, where required.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to support negotiations with private individuals, companies, Indigenous or community groups, and governmental authorities for the acquisition or divestment of surface and mineral land rights within the BU, including through M&A, asset-level transactions, and earn-in, joint venture, access, lease, option, impact benefit, and exchange agreements. Lead negotiations in partnership with other functions on simple/less complex transactions. Participate in the drafting of instruments of the foregoing transactions, along with term sheets, letters of intent, confidentiality agreements, and affidavits.
- Lead the preparation, submission, and facilitation until issuance of the applications, dossiers, and petitions of surface or mineral land rights from governmental authorities.
- Complete the filing, recording, or registering of all land rights for the BU in appropriate public and mining tenure registries.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners, provide input into the overall strategy, and create /deploy long-range land solutions/tactics for operating and project sites that maximize opportunities and mitigate land-related risks or delays to mine start-up, production, and expansion.
- Build on and maintain expertise on land rights, including competitor-owned land near Company mines and projects, to identify opportunities for acquisition or divestment that align with exploration, development, and operational objectives.

- Implement global Standards, Implementation Guides, and RMS's LOD1 processes, and other functional procedures, while collaborating regularly with corporate Land and cross-functional partners to ensure alignment on strategic land objectives, governance, and compliance activities across the BU.
- Lead the completion of land title and spatial due diligence via the BU land team, sufficient for the scope of the transaction and investment risk to the Company.
- In partnership with Social Performance and Security, implement solutions/ tactics to mitigate risks of trespass, adverse possession, and unsanctioned artisanal/small-scale mining within the BU. Coordinate with Social Performance to secure First Nation, Native Title, Ejido, and other Indigenous agreements, as well as Heritage approvals, and with Environment to secure necessary permits, ensuring that land considerations are integrated and aligned with legal requirements and the Company’s strategic objectives.
- Support land-related transactions in collaboration with cross-functional partners (including M&A, asset-level transactions, and earn-in, joint venture, access, lease, option, impact benefit, and exchange agreements with private individuals, companies, Indigenous or community groups, and governmental authorities).
The above responsibilities are the main responsibilities of the position. The position also develops other activities that are not included in this document and the immediate supervisor is responsible for informing such activities.
Training and experience
Undergraduate degree in land management or associated discipline, such as environmental or business. Applicable laws and regulations regarding compliance with land tenure obligations.Land-related instruments and agreements. Enterprise land management databases.Land administration and compliance work. Basic familiarity with GIS data and ArcGIS software.CPL or RPL AAPL accreditation, or an equivalent accreditation relevant to the Business Unit, preferred.
English and Spanish are required.
Advanced proficiency in land title compliance, land acquisition/access, and divestment following relevant laws and regulations governing real property, mining tenure, Indigenous lands, and land administration.Advanced proficiency in reviewing and analyzing land title instruments, including Deeds, Leases, Joint Venture, and Option Agreements.Advanced proficiency with enterprise land management databases and other relevant business systems.Competent proficiency in drafting essential land title instruments, including Deeds, Leases, Options, and Access Agreements.Competent proficiency in negotiating the acquisition or divestment of land assets, and navigating the interplay among surface, mineral, and other land rights.Foundational proficiency with environmental and permitting processes as they relate to land tenure.
Working conditions and location
The person can be based in Peru or Chile.
The incumbent may be required to travel and assist other sites nationally and internationally.
