About the Job:
Coeur Rochester, based near Lovelock, Nevada, is seeking a Senior Environmental Coordinator to join our team at the Rochester Mine. This position involves performing complex environmental oversight with considerable independent judgment and decision making. Reporting to the Environmental Manager, the Senior Environmental Coordinator will perform the following duties at the Rochester Mine:
Responsibilities:
- Implementation of the Company’s environmental programs in order to maintain and document compliance with all applicable environmental laws, rules, and permit stipulations.
- Assists the Environmental Manager with the review of compliance, data trends and reporting. Assists in the development and communication of improvement plans related to environmental management.
- Provides input and assists the Environmental Manager and Operations personnel in the planning and response to environmental issues and concerns.
- Assists with planning, schedules, and monitoring environmental aspects of capital projects. Helps ensure that resources are available for the timely completion of all capital projects.
- Ensures compliance with the required environmental deliverables through inspections, physical audits, and timely correction of identified deficiencies. Assists with the implementation of the environmental management system.
- Supervises, coaches and assists in the development of Environmental staff.
- Conducts field environmental monitoring activities related to air, water, wildlife, soils, vegetation, meteorology, and archaeology. Assist, formulate, document and implement environmental sampling routines and quality control procedures in compliance with regulatory requirements of applicable permits and company policy.
- Assists in the preparation of permits, studies, or regulatory reports related to environmental compliance.
- Develop and update monitoring and reporting protocols in accordance with state and federal statutes and regulations.
- Supervise activities of external contractors/consultants involved with environmental and reclamation projects.
- Provide Environmental training to staff as requested.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- BS, MS, or Technical Degree in environmental, biological, or earth sciences and 7 years of environmental and management experience within the mining industry or related industry.
- Alternatively, 12 years of equivalent environmental management experience.
- 5 to 10 years of environmental experience at an operational mine
- Working knowledge of Nevada environmental regulations
- Proficient in GIS mapping
- Working knowledge of Federal and State regulations and permit requirements.
- Strong leadership qualities: character, teamwork, communication, business sense, and vision.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database applications.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work well within a team environment.
- Strong analytical ability, problem-solving skills, & work ethic
