Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Trainer is responsible for developing, delivering, and optimizing training programs for autonomous haulage and mining operations personnel. This role ensures that operators, supervisors, and technical staff receive high-quality training to enhance safety, efficiency, and performance within an autonomous mining environment. The Trainer will work closely with operations, maintenance, and management teams to maintain compliance with safety regulations, optimize workforce development, and support the continuous improvement of autonomous systems.
Responsibilities:
Training Program Development & Delivery:
·Develop and implement structured training programs for autonomous haulage system (AHS) operations, ensuring alignment with mine production goals and safety standards.
·Provide hands-on training and mentorship to operators, frontline supervisors, and technical staff on AHS functionality, decision-making processes, and best practices.
·Conduct comprehensive assessments of training effectiveness, adjusting content as needed to improve learning outcomes.
·Maintain a strong understanding of operational procedures, industry advancements, and technological updates to ensure training programs remain relevant.
·Support workforce development by identifying skills gaps and implementing targeted training solutions.
·Work with external vendors and technology providers to incorporate best practices and advancements in autonomous haulage training.
·Develop and administer competency assessments, certifications, and refresher courses to ensure ongoing compliance and proficiency.
Operational Support & Continuous Improvement:
·Assist mine operations teams in optimizing the use of autonomous trucks by providing real-time coaching and performance feedback.
·Monitor operator performance and provide guidance on decision-making related to trip progress, fleet cycle management, and resource allocation.
·Validate shift handover reports and ensure accurate documentation of fleet performance metrics for training evaluation.
·Identify and address operational behaviors that compromise safety, efficiency, or AHS functionality, implementing corrective training as needed.
·Collaborate with mine managers, supervisors, and control room operators to enhance training effectiveness and operational alignment.
·Participate in short- and long-term operational planning discussions to ensure training programs support organizational objectives.
Safety, Compliance & Stakeholder Engagement:
·Actively contribute to the joint health and safety team, promoting a culture of safety and regulatory compliance.
·Conduct safety training sessions focused on autonomous haulage operations, emergency response procedures, and risk mitigation strategies.
·Collaborate with managers, general supervisors, and union representatives to ensure training programs align with company policies and collective bargaining agreements.
·Ensure all training materials comply with company standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices for mine safety and operations.
·Support incident investigations by identifying training gaps and recommending corrective action plans.
·Work with the local union under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
R Responsible for executing, supporting and enforcing the Company's Environmental, Health and Safety Program as required by OIS policy, directives and principles.
Qualifications:
·Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a mining operations environment.
·Extensive experience in training and development within the mining industry, preferably in autonomous haulage operations.
·Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
·Proven ability to design and deliver technical training programs tailored to various experience levels.
·Comprehensive knowledge of health and safety regulations and procedures.
·Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
·Excellent communication, coaching, and mentoring skills.
·Ability to analyze operational data to inform training strategies and improvements.
·Strong commitment to safety, compliance, and workforce development.
·Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including operations, maintenance, and management.
·Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
Required Education and Experience:
·High school diploma or GED.
·10+ years of experience in mining operations.
·2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience within a mining environment.
Environmental, Health & Safety:
This position requires training in environmental awareness and safety, including completion of the appropriate MSHA training.
