Job Description:
Also known as the Command operator, the Command Controller manages the safe and successful operation of MineStar Command for Hauling and the AHS Fleet by working in collaboration with the mine operations team to achieve the production goals of the shift. The mine controller will oversee the execution and optimization of the plan, through the utilization of information available to them, to direct the operation and ensure the fleet delivers the plan in the most effective and efficient manner.
Key Responsibilities:
·Manage the safe and efficient operation of autonomous trucks assigned in the MineStar system, collaborating with field personnel to comply with the mine production plan.
·Supervise execution and optimization using available information to direct operations from the on-site control room in dynamic areas.
·Assign autonomous trucks accurately using efficient production practices (decision support, trip progress, status page, etc.), based on resource availability.
·Ensure data integrity and accuracy for shift handover reports through fleet cycle management and in accordance with the Time Use model.
·Validate reports and document any potential issues or deviations requiring follow-up to maintain operational continuity of the assigned autonomous trucks.
·Ensure the AHS system is in good operating condition and participate in special projects aimed at improving mine production performance.
·Prioritize and plan work activities in the mine and mineral mixtures, using time efficiently, and establishing goals and performance standards in dynamic operation areas according to the production plan established for the shift.
·Identify behaviors that compromise the correct and safe functioning of the operation and the AHS system from the on-site control room.
·Monitor critical signals from autonomous trucks and report any system failures to the maintenance team promptly.
·Make timely decisions on stopping autonomous trucks or changing their operating mode based on technical criteria, alarm levels, and active OEM codes to prevent failures that could impact fleet availability and performance.
·Responsible for executing, supporting, and enforcing the Company's Environmental, Health and Safety program as required by OIS policy, directives, and principles.
Job Requirements:
Health and Safety Responsibilities:
- Set the workplace health and safety culture within control operations.
- Comply and adhere with all company policies, regulations, and procedures.
- Report autonomous related incidents as soon as practicable.
- Participate in safety enquiries, safety meetings, and site safety programs as and when required.
- Participate in workplace inspections as required.
Operations Management:
- Primarily responsible for the execution of the mine plan through the effective use of Command for Hauling system.
- Responsible for data accuracy.
- Responsible for the correct blend management in accordance with the mine plan.
- Monitor operations/processes and system performance to ensure key performance indicators are met.
Training and Assistance:
- Undertake training as required to gain new skills.
- Provide training and coaching where required to other personnel.
Performance Management:
- Prioritize work to meet shift objectives.
- Follow specific operating procedures.
- Complete and validate shift reports, shift handover, and document all issues requiring follow-up.
- Employ production efficient practices e.g.: decision support, travel progress, and status page.
Communication and Liaison:
- Prompt communication with affected parties when plans or decisions are modified.
- Ensure communication with peers, supervision, and other employees contribute to safe and harmonious working relationships.
- Follow direction of supervisor in emergency response situations.
Qualifications:
Essential:
Preferred:
- Advanced computer literacy.
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Sound knowledge of open pit mining fundamentals and autonomous mining operations.
- Previous exposure to Autonomous Mining Systems is highly desirable, but not essential.
Working Conditions:
- This role operates on a shift-based schedule, requiring coordination during both day and night shifts.
