About the role:
Reporting to the Senior Engineering Supervisor, Short Range Planning, the Technician, Mining is responsible for ensuring the engineering department has the as-built data required for planning and design work and that mine operations has accurate controls in place to execute the mine plan. This person will hold a key role in continuous improvement of existing systems in addition to development, integration, and reliability of new systems. This role follows a 4x4 days schedule.
To be successful, we are looking for someone highly motivated with strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with leaders and build positive relationships with all mine site departments. Someone with strong facilitation skills and a demonstrated ability to maintain a positive demeanour when dealing with challenges. Who is results focused, understands the importance of prioritization, and is aware of the limitations of multi-tasking.
You will have the opportunity to gain your Advanced Pilot Certificate for drones and utilize drones in many parts of your work. In this role you will:
- Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
- Utilize UAV (Drone), Trimble GPS and Lidar Scanners for surveying
- Provide daily survey support to the Engineering and Operations groups
- Prepare, upload, and download files to mobile field systems
- Coordinate activities with similar groups at our other sites to develop best practices and common standards
- Complete accurate month end and quarter end surveys with volume calculations
- Complete project work to support the Engineering team
Requirements:
- Completion of a Mine Technician Diploma program, similar diploma or a degree program within a relevant field
- Minimum one year experience in an industrial environment
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent
- Strong digital literacy and experience using Microsoft Office Suite®, GPS, GIS, Total Station, CAD systems, or other equivalent software
