The West African nation increasingly seeks new partners, such as Russia, in its mining sector.
The London Metal Exchange said on Thursday its User Committee, which represents the interests and views of the exchange’s stakeholders will be chaired by Gavin Prentice following the resignation of Codelco’s Gonzalo Cuadra.
Prentice has more than 30 years’ experience in commodities trading, most recently as Managing Director at Marex, the exchange said in a release.
He served as an LME Board member from 2009-2012 and has chaired the LME’s Aluminum and Nickel Committees for more than a decade.
Other members of the User Committee include Macquarie Bank’s Ben Green, Glencore’s Tom Maddock, Sucden Financial’s Michael Overlander and Triland Metal’s Martin Pratt, according to the LME’s website.
