Ledcor’s story began in 1947 when William “Bill” Lede founded Leduc Construction with a $5,000 cash loan secured on a handshake. On November 7, the company celebrated its 75th anniversary.

With more than seven decades of experience, Ledcor’s Heavy Civil & Mining team has been one of the key building blocks of the organization. Bill’s vision, integrity, strong work ethic, commitment to safety, and spirit of innovation remain the foundation of the Ledcor Group of Companies.

Today, Ledcor is a leader across North America in diversified construction. This success wouldn’t be possible without their commitment to safety, quality, the expertise and dedication of their people, and the trust of their clients and partners.

Ledcor’s US Heavy Civil and Mining group is based in Reno, Nevada. They provide contract mining services, mine construction services, and mine reclamation. The company continues to grow across Nevada into California and Arizona with many full-service long-term projects.

One of their longest partnerships is at the Goldstrike Mine Complex. The Goldstrike Complex is one of the top gold mines in the world located 37 miles northwest of Elko, Nevada, on the Carlin Trend. In 2019, Nevada Gold Mines was formed as a joint venture between Barrick and Newmont, combining assets across Nevada to create the single largest gold-producing complex in the world. Ledcor has worked at the Goldstrike site since 1990.

“It’s been extremely rewarding working in Nevada for the past 27 years,” says John Morand, Superintendent at Goldstrike.

“I’ve been with the company since 1984, I’ve seen the growth and evolution in what we do across both Canada and the US. Our relationships with our clients are strong and a top priority, the history runs deep,” says Morand.

“Think Safety, Work Safely” is more than just a slogan at Ledcor U.S. Heavy Civil and Mining. It’s part of Ledcor’s culture and is their number one core value. In Ledcor’s Health, Safety and Environmental Protection (HS&E) Program, every person is responsible and accountable for safety – from senior management to the individual worker.

Through Ledcor’s Employee Commitments, each person pledges to demonstrate their belief in safety – whether at work, or at home. From their comprehensive ‘Think Safety, Work Safely’ awareness programs to jobsite safe work procedures, their award-winning safety programs go above and beyond regulatory standards.

At Ledcor, all new and existing employees participate in a diverse range of career training and development opportunities such as field, classroom, computer-based and simulator training.

The importance of educating the workforce ensures the mines run smoothly, efficiently, and safely but this also serves to develop the team and ensure they grow and progress within the company. Giving employees the knowledge and skills to continuously execute their jobs and develop their skillsets.

Today’s Ledcor is the product of thousands of people striving every day to deliver safe and high-quality projects across North America, and to earn the trust of lifetime clients, project partners and communities. These values have not changed in the company’s 75 years in business.

Ledcor is a privately-held, employee-owned company with over 800 employee shareholders. Ledcor employs over 10,000 people across 20 offices.
