South African miner Kumba Iron Ore Ltd said on Thursday it had appointed Terence Goodlace as chairman of the board, replacing Mandla Gantsho who retired in May.

Goodlace, who took up the position effective June 23, has held the role of CEO at both Metorex Limited and Impala Platinum (Implats), as well as serving on the board of directors at Implats for more than six years, Kumba said.

“As a widely respected leader in the South African mining industry, his demonstrable commitment to health, safety, operational excellence and innovation adds to the quality of our board discussions,” said Kumba CEO, Themba Mkhwanazi.
