Union files complaint against Orla Mining, alleging violation of worker rights in Mexico
The complaint is only the second of its kind made from Canada using CUSMA’s RRM process since the trade deal came into force in 2020.
Canada on Wednesday blocked Glencore Plc’s proposed coal mine project in British Columbia, citing significant environmental damage.
“After careful deliberation, the Government of Canada has determined the significant adverse environmental effects of the proposed Sukunka Coal Mine Project, an open-pit metallurgical coal mine located near Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia, could not be mitigated,” the government said.

BC needs to grow a pair like AB and SK resources belong (and always have) to the province. Several times now the East Canada overlords have abused “environmental” (which is a shared responsibility) to kill projects in West Canada: if even half this moralizing was applied to the Ring of Fire it would be the end of most projects.
