Job description:
Job Summary:
Supervises all aspects of plant operations to ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and production standards. Ensures all work is carried out in accordance with approved policies, procedures, and good manufacturing practices. Provides technical guidance and mentorship to staff. Monitors performance against budgets for cost, quality, and safety.
Job Responsibilities:
· Maintain safe working conditions by ensuring adherence to all relevant safety rules and regulations; maintaining proper security measures; conducting safety inspections; developing and implementing new or revised safety procedures; providing appropriate personal protective equipment; training employees on safety procedures; reporting any unsafe working conditions or accidents to management.
· Manage the day-to-day operation of power generation systems to ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity at optimal costs. Oversee preventative maintenance programs to reduce equipment downtime and extend equipment life. Develop strategies to minimize energy consumption and waste. Monitor budget expenditures to stay within budgeted guidelines.
· Maintain adequate inventory levels for all spare parts, tools, materials, supplies, equipment, and other items required for the efficient operation of the plant. Determine when additional equipment or personnel are needed to meet operational requirements. Recommend changes in policies, procedures, or practices to improve efficiency or reduce costs.
· Establish and implement long-term plans for capital improvements and equipment replacement to enhance productivity and ensure regulatory compliance. Identify potential hazards and take corrective action to avoid mishaps. Implement new technology to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
· Assign work to operators and technicians according to their skills and experience. Provide necessary training and orientation for new employees. Evaluate operator performance and provide feedback to improve performance. Conduct disciplinary actions as warranted.
· Interpret and communicate policy decisions and procedural changes to subordinates. Provide information to supervisors and managers concerning operational problems and progress. Participate in team building activities to promote employee morale and motivation. Work cooperatively with other departments to achieve organizational goals.
· Respond to emergency situations effectively and notify appropriate authorities as needed. Stay informed regarding changes in industry trends, technologies, and government regulations. Apply knowledge to optimize processes and procedures.
Qualifications:
· Associates degree in electrical engineering or equivalent preferred.
· Five years’ experience in industrial/utility power generation.
· Must possess strong leadership skills, including the ability to lead, coach, develop, motivate, and appraise direct reports.
· Excellent communication skills – verbal, written, and presentation skills.
· Proven track record of delivering results under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
· Demonstrated computer proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook). SAP experience desirable.
· Ability to pass pre-employment physical examination.
