General Role Purpose (brief description of this job)
Ensure efficient availability of materials for Cobre Panama by optimizing Inventory Management. This role defines and reviews replenishment strategies, leveraging planning and demand forecasting, safety stock management, and reorder point analysis. Collaborating with procurement, maintenance, user areas in general, and warehouse teams to improve inventory cost efficiency and business continuity. Communicate internally with management and operational teams

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial, Systems Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Preferred: Postgraduate degree or certification in Supply Chain, logistics, Projects or Operations Management.
• Strong proficiency in ERP systems (JDE, SAP, or similar) and data analysis tools (Excel, Power BI, SQL, or similar).
• Knowledge of safety standards, environmental compliance in material management, and preferable mining regulations.
Knowledge & Experience
Inventory Management & Replenishment
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in inventory planning, demand forecasting, and replenishment strategies within mining, oil & gas, building, or industrial operations, ensuring optimal stock levels, working capital optimization, availability of materials, and minimal obsolescence.
• Proven ability to design and implement segmented inventory strategies (ABC/XYZ, criticality-based) and optimize replenishment policies (ROP, ROQ, Min/Max, Safety Stock) balancing service level, working capital, and risk.
• Experience performing root cause analysis of inventory imbalances (excess, stockouts, obsolescence) and driving cross-functional corrective actions across multi-site or complex operations
ERP Systems & Data Analytics
• Proven experience using ERP systems (JDE, SAP, or similar) for inventory control. Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel, Power BI, SQL, or similar tools for inventory performance, monitoring, and decision-making.
• Advanced expertise in data governance and ERP optimization, including master data integrity, parameter standardization, and leading system enhancement initiatives (requirements, UAT, deployment).
• Strong capability to develop data-driven decision frameworks and automated KPI dashboards, enabling performance monitoring and scenario-based analysis.
Replenishment Strategy, Planning & Demand Forecasting
• Implementing differentiated supply chain strategies (VMI, consignment, supplier collaboration models) aligned to demand variability and supply constraints.
• Ability to define and standardize forecasting and planning frameworks, including performance measurement (e.g., forecast accuracy) and governance across stakeholders.
Core Specific Responsibilities & Expected Deliverables
Inventory Management and Replenishment
• Leads inventory optimization projects with the Management and Planning Teams, ensuring availability and operational efficiency.
• Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME), leading resolution of systemic inventory issues (policy gaps, parameter misalignment, master data issues) and optimizing service level vs. working capital trade-offs
• Conducts inventory turnover analysis to support informed decision-making.
• Guides inventory strategies and replenishment processes, promoting continuous analysis and improvement.
• Trains personnel in inventory management best practices and process optimization.
• Has a high impact on operational and tactical decisions within the supply chain with Purchase Requisition Analysis, monitoring ensuring the balance between working capital and availability of the materials.
ERP Systems and Data Analysis
• Utilizes ERP systems such as JDE Edwards for integrated inventory management, analysis, and improvement.
• Leads improvement projects related to ERP usage, incorporating best practices and new functionalities.
• Ensure data integrity and governance of critical ERP inventory parameters, establishing control frameworks, validation rules, and audit routines
• Advises on the implementation and optimization of digital tools for inventory control.
• Trains staff in advanced ERP usage and data analysis to support evidence-based decision-making.
Replenishment Strategy, Planning & Demand Forecasting
• Establish and standardize replenishment strategies by segmentation and supply risk, including integration of supplier collaboration models.
• Leads initiatives in demand planning and replenishment strategy development.
• Advises on the implementation of forecasting models and inventory planning frameworks.
• Drive planning governance and alignment forums (e.g., S&OP or equivalents) for critical materials and high-impact categories.
• Trains teams in supply chain management with a focus on efficiency and demand alignment.
• Promotes the adoption of best practices with User Area, logistics, and procurement Teams.
Process Improvement, Compliance & Performance Monitoring
• Identify, disclose, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance inventory accuracy and reduce costs
• Lead continuous improvement and compliance initiatives, ensuring alignment with internal controls, audit requirements, and regulatory standards.
• Track and analyze key inventory KPIs (e.g., turnover rates, stockout, inventory level, obsolescence)
• Fosters a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence in inventory management.
