About Mount Milligan Mine
Located approximately 155 kilometres northwest of Prince George in central BC, the Mount Milligan Mine is a conventional truck-shovel open-pit copper and gold mine and concentrator with a 60,000 tpd capacity copper flotation processing plant.
Mount Milligan operates with comfortable camp accommodations equipped with private washrooms, TV, Wi-Fi, an onsite gym, and other recreational activities. Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from several locations within the region.
Mount Milligan promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.
About The Opportunity
We are looking for a
Trade, HVAC to join our Mount Milligan Mine team.
Reporting to the Mill Electrical & Instrumentation Supervisor, the HVAC Technician is responsible for various maintenance activities common to a surface hard rock mining and milling operation and the associated mining and support equipment.
The HVAC Technician is responsible for the safe and reliable installation, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of HVAC & Chiller systems throughout the mine's mill and remote sites. This role is critical for ensuring operational uptime, and strict adherence to all company safety, environmental standards and hydrocarbon tracking.
Key Responsibilities
- HVAC system operation, installation techniques and refrigerant handling.
- Refrigeration system faultfinding.
- Electrical faultfinding of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.
- Repair and maintenance of heating, air conditioning and ventilation systems.
- Actively participate in various safety activities.
- Perform Preventative Maintenance inspections.
- Repair equipment in the field or shop.
- Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Clearly write reports detailing work performed and problems found.
- Performs any other responsibilities related to the HVAC Technician role as required or as assigned by the department head.
Safety & Compliance
- Actively participate in safety programs, meetings, and hazard assessments.
- Follow all company safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation of work performed for compliance and audit purposes.
- Proven safety record and commitment to safe work practices.
Continuous Improvement
- Participate effectively in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing equipment reliability and efficiency.
- Provide feedback and recommendations for process optimization and equipment upgrades.
About You
- Red Seal HVAC Certificate.
- 3+ years experience in mining.
- Own your own hand tools (wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, etc.).
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Self-motivated, team player with a positive attitude and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong desire to share knowledge and to learn from other team members.
- Strong ability to clearly write reports detailing work performed, problems found, and corrective actions taken.
- Experience maintaining accurate records in SAP and Electrical Department logbooks.
- SAP or CMMS experience required.
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and manuals.
Working Conditions
- Camp-based role working 12-hour days on a 7 day on/7 day off rotation, with accommodation provided during rotation.
- Candidates must be able to maintain high levels of performance for extended shifts.
- Occasional exposure to hazardous environments with the requirement of wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Safety-sensitive environment with zero-tolerance drug and alcohol policy.
- Bus transportation provided from regional locations.
