About Mount Milligan Mine
Located approximately 155 kilometres northwest of Prince George in central BC, the Mount Milligan Mine is a conventional truck-shovel open-pit copper and gold mine and concentrator with a 60,000 tpd capacity copper flotation processing plant.
Mount Milligan operates with comfortable camp accommodations equipped with private washrooms, TV, Wi-Fi, an onsite gym, and other recreational activities. Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from several locations within the region.
Mount Milligan promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.
About The Opportunity
Mount Milligan is seeking a
Superintendent, TSF, Dewatering and Infrastructure, accountable for asset integrity, water management, risk mitigation, and the delivery of sustaining and capital work related to tailings, water, and infrastructure systems including Mine access roads. Reporting to the Manager, Engineering & Infrastructure, the Superintendent, TSF, Dewatering and Infrastructure oversees safe and reliable water management operations across the Tailings Storage Facility (TSF), pit, water structures, and associated infrastructure. The role provides direct supervision to TSF Supervisors and contractors, with responsibility for maintaining pumping capacity, optimizing pipe layout, ensuring equipment reliability, and meeting regulatory and site standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee operation and maintenance of site infrastructure supporting TSF and dewatering systems (pipelines, pump stations, access roads, power supply, etc.).
- Coordinate infrastructure upgrades, expansions, and repairs.
- Ensure critical spares, inventory, and maintenance programs are effectively managed.
- Maintain pumping capacity to support site water balance and operational requirements.
- Coordinate work activities with Operations, Tailings, Projects, Geotechnical, Maintenance, and Electrical teams.
- Ensure reliability, redundancy, and winterization readiness of dewatering systems.
- Lead operation and optimization of pit dewatering systems including wells, pumps, pipelines.
- Ensure all dewatering activities comply with site safety standards, safe work procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Actively support site safety programs, including hazard assessments, audits, inspections, and corrective actions.
- Respond promptly to safety incidents, near misses, or unsafe conditions and assist with investigations.
- Ensure emergency response procedures, escalation protocols, and contingency plans are understood and followed.
- Support troubleshooting and maintenance of pumps, pipelines, and related equipment.
- Participate in reliability improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and enhance system performance.
- Ensure Mine access roads are consistently maintained.
- Manage contractors performing construction, maintenance, and technical services.
- Ensure contractors meet safety, quality, and performance expectations.
- Provide clear communication and reporting to senior leadership.
- Develop short, medium, and long-term plans for TSF, dewatering, and infrastructure systems.
- Support development and execution of capital and sustaining projects (e.g., TSF raises, pump upgrades, pipeline extension).
- Work with the Project Team to prepare scopes of work, cost estimates, and schedules.
About You
- Post-secondary education in Engineering, or a related field.
- Registered Professional Engineer is an asset.
- A valid Class 5 driver’s licence is required.
- BC Mine Supervisor Certification is required.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in dewatering, water management, or similar mining/industrial operations.
- Experience in Project Management is an asset.
- Working knowledge of pumps, pipelines, generators, and related equipment.
- Strong understanding to Groundwater and Surface water management.
- Experience in Tailings Cycloning is an asset.
- Proven ability to supervise teams and contractors in field-based operations.
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills under dynamic conditions.
- Proven track record in safety leadership and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to lead hazard assessments and enforce safe work practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Experience in other software related to water and pumps is an asset.
- Strong leadership and accountability mindset.

Working Conditions
- Camp-based role working 12-hour days on a 7 x 7, 10x10, or 14 x 14 rotation, with accommodation provided during rotation.
- Exposure to indoor/outdoor environments, heavy equipment, noise, and moving parts.
- PPE always required.
- Safety-sensitive environment with zero-tolerance drug and alcohol policy.
- Bus transportation provided from regional locations.
