Rainy River
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River mine is an open pit and underground, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.
The Rainy River mine, located adjacent to the Ontario/Minnesota border is 65 kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. If you enjoy outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, winter sports and lake country then this is an area you will love to live and work in.
Applicants who reside in Northwestern Ontario and have experience working in a cross-cultural environment, coupled with knowledge of the unique challenges and opportunities presented to those living in the Northwest Ontario, are assets. About The Role
Schedule: 14 days in & 14 days off - 12 hours per day, 6:00am - 6:00pm (FIFO)
Position Reports To: Senior Underground Mining Engineer
Position Overview
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a student who wants to gain valuable underground mine site experience in all facets of mining engineering. This opportunity is available for a minimum of 12 months and upto 16 months internship with a flexible start date.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Work alongside the Mine Planning team in producing development, stoping and drill and blast designs following engineering best practices and standards.
- Assist ventilation technicians in conducting ventilation surveys and determining ventilation requirements.
- Gain exposure in underground survey techniques and assist in cavity monitor surveys of the workings.
- Gain exposure in underground rock mechanics and assist with pull tests underground.
Qualifications
- Current enrolment in a Canadian-accredited undergraduate mining engineering program.
- Excellent communication and people skills (oral, written, listening)
- Exposure to mine planning computer software and excel (Deswik preferred)
- Ability to work effectively in a team setting.
- Positive attitude & eagerness to learn.

Compensation
The anticipated salary range for this position will be between $55,000.00 -$74,000.00.
