Your Next Challenge
Reporting to the Maintenance Planning & Reliability Superintendent, you will be part of the Maintenance Department. You will be responsible for providing leadership, tactical direction, and operational oversight of maintenance planning, scheduling, shutdown coordination, and reliability activities across mobile and stationary assets.
This role is accountable for driving predictable and disciplined maintenance execution, improving equipment reliability, and optimizing asset life-cycle performance while supporting safe, efficient, and continuous production.
The position requires strong leadership capability, technical expertise, and the ability to collaborate effectively with Operations, Maintenance, Projects, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams. The successful candidate will champion operational excellence, reliability culture, and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with world-class mining practices.
You will ensure departmental goals and objectives are achieved while actively promoting and upholding Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and environmental stewardship commitments.
Safety, Leadership & Culture
- Promote a visible and proactive safety culture while ensuring full compliance with Agnico Eagle’s Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) standards and Ontario Mining Regulations.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, operational discipline, and continuous improvement across maintenance and operations teams.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management to: Stationary Maintenance Planners & Scheduler (Mechanical & Electrical), Mobile Reliability Engineers and Stationary Reliability & Maintenance Engineers.
- Develop team capability through mentoring, succession planning, and technical development initiatives.
Maintenance Planning, Scheduling & Work Management
- Own the 12-month rolling maintenance plan, 52-week maintenance schedule, 3-month frozen planning window for stationary assets (mechanical & electrical), including integrated shutdown plans utilizing a Mine-to-Mill approach.
- Lead the stationary planning and scheduling (mechanical & electrical) team to deliver high‑quality, executable job plans, including SOPs, labor estimates, durations, BOMs, permits and isolations, lifting plans, and kitting/staging requirements.
- Drive schedule compliance, backlog health, work readiness, and maintenance execution performance through disciplined work management practices.
- Ensure strong CMMS discipline, including accurate work order history, proper failure coding, backlog control, part reservations, and timely work order close‑out.
- Coordinate and optimize shutdown planning and execution activities in collaboration with Operations, Supply Chain, Contractors, and OEMs.
- Support continuous improvement of maintenance processes, planning standards, and work management systems.
Reliability & Asset Performance
- Lead the implementation and sustainment of Reliability Initiatives across Mobile and Stationary assets while ensuring delivery of the reliability roadmap, value realization, and budget adherence.
- Develop and implement Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) strategies for mining and milling assets.
- Lead initiatives related to:PM Optimization, Condition-Based Monitoring (CBM), World-Class Lubrication Programs, Asset Integrity Management and Bad Actor / Defect Elimination Programs across Mobile and Stationary assets.
- Ensure all Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), defect elimination, and chronic failure reduction initiatives are effectively executed across mobile and stationary assets.
- Oversee predictive maintenance programs (oil analysis, vibration, thermography, ultrasound, NDT), including alarm limits, reporting cadence, and follow‑up actions.
- Implement condition-monitoring technologies and analytics to enable early detection of equipment failures and proactive maintenance decision-making.
- Provide engineering and technical support during critical equipment failures, including Fault diagnostics, Failure isolation, Development of technically sound repair strategies.
- Ensure development of detailed repair scopes and work packages in collaboration with Planning, Reliability, and Maintenance Execution teams.
- Integrate Reliability Engineering requirements into new projects through the Operational Readiness Framework.
- Develop asset life-cycle strategies and equipment replacement plans while supporting AFEs, sustaining capital, and growth capital business cases.
- Drive reliability performance improvements focused on: Availability, Utilization, MTBF, MTTR, Downtime reduction and Maintenance cost optimization.
Financial, Performance & Project Integration
- Support development of maintenance operating (Opex) budgets for stationary assets, including forecasting, cost control, and variance reporting.
- Establish, monitor, and communicate KPIs and performance dashboards including availability, utilization, MTBF, MTTR, PM compliance, schedule compliance, backlog health, and maintenance cost.
- Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, Projects, Supply Chain, Contractors, and OEMs to align priorities, secure materials, and minimize operational downtime.
- Support the planning and execution of capital and sustaining projects, ensuring reliability and maintainability requirements are embedded from design through commissioning.
- Identify opportunities for process, equipment, and system improvements to maximize uptime and operational efficiency.
- Support digital transformation and asset management initiatives leveraging CMMS, analytics, predictive maintenance technologies, and operational data systems.
What You Need To Succeed
- Degree/Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or Mining Engineering, or equivalent industry experience;
- 8–12+ years in mining maintenance; 4+ years leading maintenance planning, scheduling and reliability teams within the mining industry;
- Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) designation preferred, not required;
- Computer literate and proficiency in MS suite;
- Proven expertise in Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), Preventive & Predictive Maintenance, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (FMEA), Defect Elimination Programs;
- Demonstrated experience with Shutdown Planning & Execution, Contractor & OEM Management;
- Condition Monitoring Technologies, Asset Health Monitoring Programs;
- Strong understanding of Oil Analysis, Vibration Analysis, Thermography, Ultrasound Technologies, Asset Integrity Practices;
- Experience supporting Underground Mobile Fleet, Surface Mobile Fleet, Underground Process Plants;
- Surface Process Plants / Milling Operations;
- Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced mining environment.
