The New Porgera Limited now has a vacancy for a qualified and experienced individual to join our Mine Technical Services Department as a
Engineer, Ventilation & Projects Underground.
About The Role
Reporting to the Superintendent - Underground, the Engineer, Ventilation & Projects Underground is responsible for design, monitoring, optimisation and continuous improvement of underground ventilation systems, while also delivering engineering projects that support safe, efficient and compliant underground operations.
In This Role, You Will
Ventilation Engineering
- Design, implement and maintain underground ventilation systems to ensure safe working environment
- Monitor airflow, gas levels, dust, heat and diesel particulate matter (DPM)
- Conduct ventilation surveys, audits and modelling
- Conduct ventilation surveys, audits and modelling
- Review and update ventilation plans, schematics and reports
- Investigate ventilation-related incidents and recommend corrective actions
- Ensure compliance with statutory ventilation and health and safety requirements
Project Engineering
- Plan and deliver underground engineering projects, including ventilation upgrades, infrastructure improvements and systems optimisations
- Prepare project scopes, schedules, budgets and risk assessments
- Coordinate contractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Manage project execution, commissioning and handover
- Track project performance and report progress to management
- Maintain a high level of health and safety awareness and comply with the NPL Occupational Health & Safety Policy and all health and safety rules and procedures
About You
To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experiences:
- Tertiary Qualifications in Mine Engineering, or related
- Experience working in Underground Mining environment
- Strong understanding of underground ventilation principles
- Knowledge of relevant mining legislation and safety standards
- Competency in ventilation monitoring and reporting tools
- Strong analytical, problem -solving and communication skills
- Experience in ventilation modelling software ( e.g. Ventsim)
- Project management experience
- Experience in contract management
Working Conditions
- Underground work environment with rotating or fixed shift roster
- Exposure to typical mining conditions – confined spaces, noise, dust and variable temperatures
- Use of PPE and adherence to all safety protocols required
