Wood is currently recruiting a Marine Site Engineer, this is an onsite position based in Basra, Iraq for a period of 6 months.
The Marine Site Engineer is responsible for overseeing and coordinating marine construction activities on site, ensuring that works are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications, marine regulations, and quality standards. The role involves close coordination with marine crews, contractors, and project stakeholders to support successful delivery of marine and offshore works.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage marine construction activities, including piling, dredging, quay walls, jetties, revetments, and offshore structures.
- Ensure all marine works are carried out according to approved drawings, technical specifications, and project schedules.
- Coordinate with marine supervisors, vessel operators, surveyors, and subcontractors to ensure smooth site operations.
- Monitor daily work progress and prepare site reports, method statements, and work permits.
- Ensure compliance with HSE procedures, marine safety regulations, and environmental requirements.
- Review and verify marine construction materials and equipment prior to use on site.
- Support marine surveys, setting‑out, and quality control inspections.
- Identify and resolve technical and operational issues on site.
- Liaise with project management, engineering teams, and client representatives regarding site progress and technical matters.
- Assist with commissioning activities and final inspections as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in marine engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in marine or offshore construction projects.
- Proven experience working on marine structures and nearshore/offshore environments.
- Practical knowledge of marine construction techniques and equipment (e.g., barges, jack‑up platforms, piling rigs).
- Familiarity with international marine standards and local regulatory requirements.
- Previous experience working in the Middle East or remote project locations is an advantage.
