This role will be located at the Copper World Project, approximately 45 minutes southwest of Tucson in Helvetia, Arizona.
Purpose of Role:
Hudbay is seeking motivated students for our 2026 Summer Internship program at the Copper World project. This role is designed to provide hands-on experience in a mining environment. Interns will assist with engineering, survey, and field operations to support the ongoing development of the site.
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Field Support: Assist with detailed field surveys, including flagging roads, pads, and other infrastructure projects.
- Data Management: Use CAD software and other mining-specific applications to maintain accurate notes, records, and sketches of work performed.
- Technical Reporting: Research previous survey evidence and physical records to prepare and present findings to Engineering and Operational personnel.
- Safety & Compliance: Participate in health and safety documentation and follow-up to ensure accurate reporting and a safe work environment.
- Operational Exposure: Gain experience in various mining circuits, which may include drilling, blasting, loading, and hauling operations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:
- Education: Currently enrolled in a degree program related to Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a similar technical field.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience with CAD software or drone piloting is a plus.
- Physical Demands: Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions (hot/dry) and near moving mechanical parts. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Transportation: Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for the daily commute to the Copper World site, located approximately 45 minutes from downtown Tucson.

Employee will be expected to drive a company vehicle, rental vehicle and/or his/her own vehicle in the course of performing the job, Employee must be able to perform the physical functions of operating a motor vehicle, including use of eyes, ears, arms, hands, legs, and feet. Employee must be able to prove that he/she has a current and valid driver's license.
